6 weeks and I'm more motivated than ever...

Recommended Posts

As much as I've learned so much from the users on this site I can't help but share my news...sure I've got family support but I don't know anyone going through this except for everyone that shares their stories on this site...I've got a long way to go...but in 6 weeks I'm down 48 lbs...3 sizes down for the shirts I wore before...4 sizes down in pants...loss some muscle but I plan to go back to my gym this friday. I've got a long way to go but man...this has just been such a boost for me and I'm hoping this ride just keeps on going. This has been the brightest spot of the year for me....thanks to all the support and information that I've read on this site...could not have done this without just family support. Still sticking to the script and feeling so blessed each day. Happy holidays to all????

Great results so far. Like you I only had my nurse and this site as support. The people have been amazing on here and in my life. Sometimes I wish I would have known someone going though the same thing but in the end there are other ways to get motivation to keep the journey you are on positive. I'm 1 year this week and down 150lbs, and still just as excited as in the beginning. Once you get your energy back and start to push your limits you will see how much you are now capable of, and it will amaze you.

Good luck and great job so far:)

one year and 150? I don't know how to respond to that...I didn't know what to expect and told my dr. I'd be happy 50 lbs lighter...at my one month he was like aim higher because I'm not done yet....stories like yours just resonates and makes me more motivated...can't help but just be proud reading all these success stories and hope that if I go down the right path I can be I the same boat as everyone on this site.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
