2 wk postop back to work today!

Recommended Posts

I went back at 2 weeks! I am a first grade teacher. Best thing I could have done! It just helped me feel normal to be back in the swing of things! 5 weeks out now and feel great!

Depends on your level of activity at work. I do accounts receivable so walking up and down the stairs a few times is about as active my day at work gets. If there lifting involved or something of the sort the no lifting more than 10lbs would apply and would keep you out longer. :-) I went back to work 5 days post op.

I went back to work today, had surgery on 12/12. I decided to shorten my day. I was exhausted. Will try to stick it out tomorrow.

I'm a veterinary technician. Very active job, on my feet all day, lifting, bending, stretching, squatting, etc. I went back after 1 week. Just made sure I had plenty of Protein Shakes and fluids to sip on all day in between appointments.

I took 5 weeks off only because I could. I only work part time, but am on feet all day when I am there. But at the two week mark I am pretty sure I could have gone back to work but I so enjoyed the time off!!!!!

I went back to work after 2 weeks also. I feel really good, I am tolerating everything I eat and drink, which is mostly Water. As long as I stay away from purified water, I can drink the water. When I was first sleeved I couldn't stand the taste of water then I figured out it was the purified water. I have never like purified water, I prefer spring or tap.

I work two jobs. I returned to work one week post-op and barely made it. I could only stay 1/2 day. I was still experiencing discomfort and felt extremely tired. As of yesterday (12/22/14), I returned to work full force and I'm doing well. Any of you on your puree diet yet?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
