holliwood1980 143 Posted December 22, 2014 I am 3 days post op. The incision sites are really tender as expected. Does anyone have advice on the best way to sleep comfortably? No matter how I lay it hurts an incision. Then when I stand up it's even worse. Any advice is appreciated. I'm very happy to be sleeved even with the pain! ???? applegal79 19 Posted December 22, 2014 I slept on my reclining couch the first 4 nights home. I am 9 days post OP now and I sleep in my bed on my right side right at the side of the bed so I can get in and out easily. I have no feeling in my right thigh as I have a pinched nerve, so getting up in the morning is a little difficult, but I sleep good!
Elode 8,093 Posted December 22, 2014 Prop your belly with a pillow under it. You could also put a pillow behind your back to help you stay over, also one between your legs. That's what I did.
MrsMurky721 130 Posted December 22, 2014 I slept on a recliner until 8 days post-op with almost no problems pain-wise. Now I sleep in bed. The first night was miserable. Now I take a pain pill before bed to keep the aches at bay and keep me asleep!
TrimTrekker 18 Posted December 24, 2014 A body pillow used during pregnancy is great but without one, try sleeping on your side and using a pillow tucked tightly behind your back. It allows you to lean back on the pillow, taking pressure off your midsection all the way around including your back. It feels amazing. Adding the pillow between your legs is also a comfy addition to the support. Again, the body pillow allows for all of that at once.
ProjectMe 909 Posted December 24, 2014 I second the recliner. I am 7 days post op and slept in the recliner at the hospital, then the recliner at home the first few days.

katanabutterfly 14 Posted December 27, 2014 I am 6 days post-op, and I am able to sleep in my bed. The hardest part is not laying on my stomach (I am a tried and true tummy sleeper). I find that if I prop myself up a little with pillows, laying on my back is not too difficult. Also, I am slowly being able to sleep on my side, although I have to be careful. Right side is much more comfortable. Getting up out of bed still takes some gentle effort, as the incisions hurt when trying to stand up. ~*~Heather~*~
srp2015 11 Posted January 6, 2015 I had my surgery 12/30 and have been practically been sleeping almost sitting up. I have 4 pillows plus this other thing to keep my up. I barely sleep. Sometimes I end up sliding down and getting up hurts my incision. I wish I had a recliner
holliwood1980 143 Posted January 6, 2015 I am now 2 1/2 weeks post op. It definately gets better. Sometimes I can sleep on one side comfortably. I wake up a lot for some reason but the incision pain isn't as bad anymore.
mns112182 11 Posted January 6, 2015 I slept on our overstuffed couch the first 5 days. I faced the super stuffed pillows and this helped a lot. Once I made it to the bed I used my maternity body pillow to wrap around me for comfort and support. I can sleep on my right side and back comfortably as before. The left side not so much this seems to cause pain so I avoid.
Sleeved12/29 2 Posted January 6, 2015 i was sleeved 12/29 and last night was the first night i slept in bed (with the assistance of several pillows). i found the recliner a lot more comfortable plus i have a bad habit of crossing my legs in my sleep. since i'm on blood thinning shots for two weeks, just felt safer in the recliner. last night i slept on my back propped on three pillows and a pillow between my legs. thought i wouldn't sleep but i did.....good luck. each day gets better, honest
