I've seen some people post about the pre op diet, and some have asked if it is really possible to do. Has anyone attempted to follow the pre op diet before you actually had to follow it for surgery? Or is this not advisable?

I did a Breakfast smoothie for couple weeks before I started and often had a salad for dinner. Helped me to figure out what I liked for smoothie. Most of all by the time I started preop I knew I could do it.

I've been doing a Breakfast shake for a few months now... I was thinking about starting to of a shake at lunchtime too. And of course having a sensible meal at dinner.< /p>

My surgeon only made me go off of starch for the month before surgery and a liquid diet the day before.

I'm doing the pre op diet. I am a little grumpy and just want to do my yearly eat extra sweets December thing but I think it's good to break that habit. I've slipped twice. And just get up and say you want this! The midnight snack monster was the worst to get through. But 14 lbs down pre op diet

Hi Jamie, ya, the pre-op is a bit change. so far I'm OK with it. this is my fourth day and feeling pretty good. I'm using a protien powder that is plant based and really filling. my surgery date is Jan 13th, Tijuana with Venezuela. very excited!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
