delightfulness 10 Posted December 21, 2014 I have sleep apnea and was wondering if it went away after your surgery? I would love for the snoring to stop, its soo annoying having your family tell you that you woke them up and they couldn't go back to sleep.

BeagleLover 1,020 Posted December 21, 2014 I was told that my sleep apnea would most likely disappear 3 - 4 months out from surgery. Another benefit!

Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted December 21, 2014 Is your sleep apnea untreated? You mention that you currently snore. Your surgeon may not be willing to do the surgery if it's untreated. Have you had a sleep study?
JillC878 59 Posted December 21, 2014 This is one of the deciding factors in having surgery for me. My CPap is the devil. I was told however that I would need to have another sleep study done to truly come off the machine as far as my medical team would be concerned. I am set on the CPap's lowest setting and my husband has noticed that I am not snoring like I was, but I dont want to chance having to do more then one sleep study. Therefore, I am going to wait until I reach my goal weight. 27 more hard pounds to go!
joatsaint 2,814 Posted December 21, 2014 I stopped using my CPAP machine about 11 months post-surgery. I never went in for apnea testing after surgery, so I can't say that it went away. At some point, the CPAP machine was pumping so much air into my stomach that I'd wake up at night burping and farting. So I tried sleeping without the machine. I experimented on myself on and off and one day I noticed that my quality of sleep without the machine was as good with it. So I stopped using the CPAP machine. delightfulness 10 Posted December 22, 2014 Yes, I have had a sleep study and needed the machine, but don't sleep properly with it. I've been snoring since I was like 8 years old, my dad snores as well as my brother, I thought it was genetics.
