Everything tastes YUCKY!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone-

I was banded on April 30. 2007, and am currently in the mushy/babyfood consistency stage and everything tastes YUCKY!!! I have tried mashed potatoes, yams, Soups, eggs, cottage cheese, avacado, Jello, and pudding and they all make me feel sick. Even my Protein Shake has started to make me want to gag. :speechles The only thing that I can kind of tolerate is baby apple sauce and Peanut Butter.< /p>

I am hungry, and things sound good when I am making them but then when it is time to eat...BLAH. I have not thrown up yet but I feel like I need to after I eat. I am not hardly eating but maybe 1oz before I just give up.:think

Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any suggestions? I can feel my body getting weaker. :faint:

Please Help:help:

I have pretty much lost my appetite too. I know exactly what you mean about something sounding good, looking good and smelling good but when it comes down to eating it ... blah.

I would try some different Protein Drinks. I like carnation instant Breakfast. On this site there are hints to add fruit, peanut butter ...My pantry is full of stuff I have bought to entice me. I am just trying to eat what I have .

I am worried about you gagging. I never had that problem. I wonder if you should try the very (and I mean small) small meals about every 2 hours program?

For your Protein Shakes I take 4oz of h2o,4oz of light vanilla soy milk, either vanilla or chocolate Protein (=40grams of whey protein)2scoops, 10 ice cubes, 1tsp of Skippy all natural peanut butter-mix in blender pretty good milkshake-I use to hate them and not drink them until someone else gave me this recipe. Mix the mash potatoes w/ chix broth or even beef broth instead of Water and butter. Grits aren't bad w/ different flavors-but I agree watch the calories. You will get thru this time. When you are able to eat real food again this time will be worth it. I promise.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
