Kids are so honest

Recommended Posts

After loosing all this weight, my grandkids commented that they miss the old me, where my soft tummy made a nice pillow.

Funny you mention that! When I was a young teen, my mom lost about 65 lbs because she found out she had Type II Diabetes.

Diabetes picked the wrong lady to mess with and in her usual fashion, she did not eff around! She became a runner and would run up to 5 miles a day M-Sat and kicked Diabetes arse!

This was 35 years ago and she has maintained ever since and never batted an eye. She is in her early 70s, is wracked with osteo-arthritis but not even that stops her! She walks now instead of running and she's got the legs of a 25 year old dancer still! I am so proud of her.....

BUT I remember missing her cushion-y hugs! LOL

I'll take her slender, healthy hugs over no hugs any day though!

I have said to other people's kids before "Oh, that's not a very nice/kind thing to say". Not in a bitchy or mean way, but just kind of planting that in their minds.

Has anyone seen the kids movie Flushed Away? My then-6-year-old daughter held up a pair of my knickers once and sang the line from the movie, "...and the lady wears big undies, huuuuge undies". It was too funny to offend me and both kids do it every now and then and we all have a good laugh. Now-7-year-old did it a few days ago when one of the in-laws was in the next room, and I explained to her how it embarrasses me if she says things like that in front of other people.

I have tried to teach them to never make comments about other people, because I know how it feels. (Although the youngest one did say, upon seeing a little person at the shops, "Look, there's an Oompa Loompa!". Cringe!).

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
