Does anyone actually like their protein drink?

The only ones that I've really been able to tolerate are Muscle Milk, and my NUT doesn't support them...

@@Kindle Great suggestions! I'm going to try these soon!

I just bought the Syntrax nectar vanilla torte Protein and I love it! Great taste. I do change up the flavoring a bit by adding some SF syrups in different flavors

So? One more reason I'm glad I don't have a nut telling my what I can and can't eat. I'm perfectly capable of reading labels and making my own decisions.

What have you tried? My program gave me a list that's a page long front and back. I could copy it and post it.

I've tried Atkins Advantage (loved pre-op), Premiere Protein, Jay Robb, GNC Lean 25... I think that's it. My program actually doesn't recommend Protein Drinks, and I've been doing okay without them.

Hello, I post video taste tests of Protein powders and ready mades on my blog at http://cuttingthefatwithaknife.blogspot.com

I will say be very very careful most Protein powders have both regular ( non diet) and diet versions. Such as Muscle milk has regular which is for body builders and designed to put on weight. and muscle milk lite, which is for dieters. so be careful. I know one big issue I have is with the GENEPRO, it says you get 30 grams of protein from 1 tablespoon of product, which is impossible because one tablespoon is 15 grams, so how you can get 30 grams of protein from 15 grams of product beats me I even posted on their face book page and sent them an email and my posts get erased and emails go unanswered. I have asked friends who are chemists and one food additive manufacturer with a phd in food sciences and both tell me its not possible there is no way this is a factual statement, both felt it was a marketing ploy where they are using weight vs volume in the same sentence. Personally I enjoy the Syntrax Nectars the best so far , matrix also very very good, I also like a particular chocolate by twin lab but its very hard to find. Particularly I enjoy the vanilla torte, and the fuzzy navel, I also enjoy the Cappuccino, and it uses totally Decaf coffee in its flavor.

Now if you have allergy issues or want a really mild taste look for abouttime yes its one word you can find it online or at some gnc's and natural food stores. they make a product called fill shake and go, its a pre loaded plastic disposable bottle, you just op the top an add liquid , shake it up and drink. but it has very few ingredients, just 4 total, the flavors are extremely mild, almost not there, I recommend the strawberry chocolate, birthday cake and vanilla, the banana is ok but you have to like banana, per se. find them online.

Hope this helps.

My nutritionist encourages everyone to be getting their protein from food at 8 weeks on out, but I was making smoothies/protein drinks for Breakfast before I even considered WLS since it was the only way I could get Breakfast in before my morning workout. Anything heavier and I couldn't keep it down. Now that I am post op and have such a small tummy it's even more helpful. However if you are doing well without, then by all means you should definitely keep doing what works.

@@Stevehud - how are you feeling post op? I looked up the Abouttime drink you mentioned since I'm always on the lookout for good protein drinks. Sadly this one contains stevia so if you are allergic to it, stay away. BTW - the stevia plant is also in the ragweed family so people with severe sinus issues or ragweed allergies may have trouble with products made with it.

I was initially trying to find something I could drink on my hour commute to work, as breakfast, but since I don't feel hunger at this point I've just been waiting until I get to work and having a yogurt.

blerdgirl im doing ok, post op I cn get my Protein drinks in and liquids in okay, I have a few issues nothing over the top, they did a tac block on me after the surgery and I think the anesthesiologist assistant or student whatever stuck one eedle in the wrong muscle in my chest so now it feels like I have a arrow stuck through my chest to my back every time I take a deep breath or push to pass gas or burp. also it appears I have gastritis and the pains hit me frequently and really hard but I don't like pain meds because of my sleep apnea, the pain meds lower my respirations too much and I wake up with massive sleep apnea headaches. Just got to hold the pain off until Monday when I call the doc. Ive heard some over the counter help can be had from gaviscon, but I cant just arbitrarily do that without my surgeons okay. So if I can hold it together until then, ill be happy. thanks for asking.

Nope, hate every single one I have tried. Trust me, I think I have tried every brand on earth, pretty much.

The only one I am okay with is GENEPRO unflavored because it tastes more like nothing and because it is concentrated you use a very small amount and when added to anything else you can't tell.

Premiere chocolate Protein drinks... pre-made and usually sell for a good price at Walmart. I think a pack of 4 is around $5. They are 30 grams of Protein in one drink so even if you only drink half, you're still getting 15 grams of protein! A lot of times I drink half, for an afternoon snack.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
