brians34 31 Posted December 19, 2014 I finally get to come off crushing meds on Monday YES!!! I was counting up the total number of "pills" that I would be swallowing including Vitamins and prescriptions and I have 14 tablets/capsules that I will be swallowing in a day. I was wondering if anyone has had any trouble with there sleeve after having starting swallowing meds. I will be splitting these into 4 different times of day. SuperDave 1,115 Posted December 19, 2014 I'm not quite there yet, but my nutritionist recommends splitting pills for a while even after the crushing phase. It makes them easier to swallow and helps them dissolve quicker in your new pouch.
SBovee 20 Posted December 19, 2014 (edited) I'm three months out and I haven't had an issue yet. I started spitting up Percocet into fourths on my 5th day (my back is seriously messed up herniated disc, bulging disc, scoliosis) so I cant live without them BUT they taste horrible crushed. I'm still doing fine never had a problem or one get stuck. You'll do fine. I think they (drs) make a huge deal out of nothing. VSGAnn2014 12,992 Posted December 20, 2014 I've never crushed any of my meds or other pills. Was never told to either. Yuck!
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted December 20, 2014 I was told to either crush or get chewables for the first 6 weeks because the sleeve might not be able to absorb the nutrients from swallowed pills. Even though I can now swallow pills some of the larger ones make me momentarily nauseous when I swallow them.
