Still sore. Sound familiar?

Recommended Posts

I was banded in 2006. On Tuesday I went for an unfill. I had been tight all of a sudden and experience acid reflux for about five days. The doctor does not think it is a slip and since Tuesday I've stuck with almost all liquids and muddies. My esophagus still feels a little sore today. Does the soreness stay around for a little while? Does it take a little while to heal? Or should I have felt better by now? The ball I felt on the back of my throat is much better and the reflux is much better. Again I just still feel a little burnt there. Anybody have any experience with this?

I was having the same issue and went today to have an unfill they gave me Carafate, a medicine that coats the esophagus I am supposed to take 4 times a day. It helps settle the irritation. Only taken it once since I just got it but it has really helped.

I have with a sinus infection. The post nasal drip caused the sore throat. I figure it will take two weeks of being careful. Any longer and I will see a Doctor

I have a swollen esophagus. It is probably caused by acid reflux which is probably caused by my band. I am on all the acid reflux medicine and not responding great. Scope coming up soon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
