Ask the dr to prescribe an antispasmotic. I took hyoscyamine and it was a lifesaver. Try drinking warm stuff (even heat up your Protein shake). Hope you feel better very soon.

Hi. Sorry for the way you're feeling but it does get better. Just allow your body time to heal especially your sleeve. Your sleeve is very swollen and you have to allow time for all the swelling to go down.

I had it the first 2 days after surgery and had exactly the same feeling, what have got myself into. But now I am better. I am Day 5 post surgery. Still only taking broth and dilute juice. Have trouble taking supplement, I think I have lactose intolerance. Tomorrow will try lactose free supplement.

My surgery was 12/11 as well! I also had that hungry feeling. Turned out it was a combination of gas pain and acid reflux. I started taking Reglan two days ago and it got so much better. Every now and then, though, I do feel what I think is hunger. I also had TERRIBLE sharp shooting pains that would start from the bottom of my belly and move up. It took my pain from a 2 to an 8 easy. Damn they hurt. Turns out it was gas. Reglan also helped with that. Try talking to your Doc!

I'm so sorry that you are in pain. I am 4 days out and while I do experience spasms every now and again, I just breathe my way through it and it's gone before you know it. Also, I noticed I get spasms if I drink too much, too fast. My surgeon automatically puts all his patients on nexium to control acid production, so haven't had any problems with that. Hope you feel better!

I am two days out of surgery gastric sleeve. I am confused about the next few weeks on what I should be eating or drinking. I have a vague idea but would like to know from people who has walked this road. Also I am supposed to start my Vitamins tomorrow. Should I split them up am and pm or all at one time? post-243501-14191256357306_thumb.jpg

Call your doctor. It should not be that painful. He may be able to prescribe you something for the spasms. If Jello is not sitting well with your sleeve, try something else.

Call your doctor or nutritionist. Every program has a different protocol.

My program provides a handbook that covers everything from pre to post op for up to a year out. However some programs want pts. on Clear liquids post-op, others allow full liquids. The time periods vary as well. I did 2 weeks full liquids, then purees, then soft foods, then regular food as tolerated. I was advised to remember to separate the Calcium Citrate and Vitamin D3 since they cancel each other out. Others are only advised to take a multi Vitamin. If you are unsure you need to contact your program and have them clarify.

The key for many is to cook the eggs really soft. Add a bit of milk to them. I add a little greek yogurt. Also don;t forget to eat super, duper slow.

Does anyone know when does the pain when you swallow whatever your drinking or eating goes away?? As soon as something hits my stomach it feels like I'm having a huge muscle spasm or cramping!!

It gets better as you heal. It's one of the reasons why you have to sip sloooowwly. It the spasms get too bad you can ask your doctor to prescribe something but try and remember to be gentle to your healing tummy.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
