Submitted to Ins Dec 2nd...STILL waiting

Recommended Posts

...and FRUSTRATED!

It's been over two weeks, and I am worried. I called my Insurance twice last week, and they told me they still didn't recieve anything. I then called my surgeon's office to see what exactly was going on, and they told me it was sent in on Dec. 2nd, so they don't see an issue, just maybe they haven't updated their system or something. I called my Insurance company again today and they told me they just received it YESTERDAY, and it is pending still...yesterday? I am ready to lose it here...what is the hold up, and how much longer do I suffer here? LOL

Anyway, anyone else submit around Dec 2 and still waiting like I am? Anyone go through something like this with things being received late?

(BTW, I have Health Partners of Philadelphia)

I can't tell you for sure but it sounds like someone may have dropped the ball! BUT, I know when I was going through all this and calling my insurance company the paper work went through a few different departments before it was given to the nurse/Dr who ultimately made the decision so the dates Of when they received my information was different depending on what department I was speaking to so that may be the issue. Important thing is they have it now. I don't know about your insurance but I know (at least here) the insurance Co legally have 30 days to make a decision. Hope you gets an answer soon. I know how aggravating it can be! Good luck! @@champagne301

Yes, that is how I feel, like someone dropped the ball, and nobody wants to take the fault! I am also pretty sure it goes through different departments too, but man, it's driving me nuts here, lol! I'm trying to focus, as you said, at least they have it now right? The surgeon's office told me my plan normally doesn't take longer than 2 weeks, which is why I'm so antsy about it I guess. The inability to plan this out accordingly is difficult for me, especially since this is the holidays with my 4 girls and all. I at least want a date already, ya know? ;)

Thanks so much for the encouragement!

I dunno.. my surgeon's office told me to expect it to take a little while to get approval. It was almost a month before I got the good news. Sucks to wait, but I wouldn't necessarily worry. Insurance companies like to take their sweet time apparently..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
