I had my one week post-op appointment today. I was moved up to soft Proteins and just had some scrambled egg. I was only able to eat about an eighth of it but it tasted wonderful! I sitting here here waiting for the next 30 minutes to pass as I'd really like to have something to drink.

I had wondered how I would know when I had eaten enough. For me, apparently, it's a tiny twinge in my pouch. I will be looking out for that twinge the next time I eat to see if it happens again.

I am SO thrilled to have reached my first post-op milestone!

Other possible signals could be a belch or a hiccup, both things I do. If I even eat one more bite, I'll be miserable. Also, word of advise, try one thing at a time so make sure it works. Kind of like a baby where you only introduce one new food at a time. Things you normally eat may not work. I can eat eggs but put something into them and all bets are off and that's even after 9 months.

Thanks for the advice. So far, I've only had that little bit of egg. Everything feels so different now, I have decided to take things slowly. But on the other hand, I've already been told that I will be moved up to "softer meats" (chicken, turkey and fish) on Christmas Eve. So I want to get a good handle on what eating feels like before then.

Moving from one stage to another feels great, right? Just take it very slow. I noticed that my tastes have changed. So you might not like things that you did before. Also, chicken seems to fill me SO fast. All Protein does. So go slow, but be very proud of your accomplishments. Happy holidays to you. Enjoy your coming new year of changes.

Thanks, Maggie, the only food that I was allowed this week that will have to wait for a while was the refried Beans. They didn't make me sick but my stomach felt so heavy afterwards. The egg was good and so was the shredded cheese and yogurt. But best of all has been the cottage cheese! I drizzled a tiny bit of fruit flavor Torani sugar free Syrup on it and it has sat wonderfully!

I must admit that on one hand I am really looking forward to having meat again and on the other hand, it makes me nervous. I am going to pressure cook some chicken breast and chop them up into tiny pieces and see how it goes!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
