Okie_RN 27 Posted December 18, 2014 After your surgery did it hurt when the liquids hit your stomach? It is killing me shooting sharp pains throughout.
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted December 18, 2014 I wouldn't call it painful, but I did feel it. The slower I sipped, the better I was able to tolerate it. The hospital gave us little cups like the kind you get on liquid medicine like nyquil. I sipped from that as it made it easier to remember to sip and not gulp. This is intense sharp stabbing pain, like someone is trying to rip me apart. It worse than incision pain and gas pain combined.
tfarr 270 Posted December 18, 2014 How far are you out? Have you spoken to your surgeon about this?
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted December 18, 2014 If it's that painful you need to call your doctor.

Linda774 16 Posted December 20, 2014 I had them so bad it actually made my eyes tear!!! It felt like I was getting stabbed in my stomach or my stomach was having a spasm. No matter how slowly I drank or what I drank I still got them. I even got them when I wasn't drinking I spoke to my surgeon who looked at me like I was crazy! I did something I probably shouldn't have done but it got me thru it. I took 1/2 dose of my pain med and that seemed to help. Now 2 weeks later they are gone Thank god!!
