I am now 3 weeks post op and I am experiencing a stall on my weight loss... Did this happen to anyone else? I feel like it's really early to already have a stall. How long did everyone else's stall last and how early was your first stall after surgery?

Hi Emily

Almost everyone =) search the topic on here, you will find plenty of lamenting and some in depth explanations about why it occurs. Usually lasts for about 7-10 days but can be longer

Good luck girly

It's so common it even has a name! "The Dreaded Three Week Stall" Most everyone goes through it, and everyone gets through it! There is a sub forum called "Don't Sweat the Stall Stuff" you might want to check out. No fear! Keep doing what your doing and you'll get through it in a week or two...

I had a 5 day stall my second week post op. Just trust the process and follow your plan. It will pass. If you measure I bet you see that you have lost some inches even if you haven't slot anything on the scale.

Going thru it right now.. It sucks because it's right about the same time on my plan when I can start testing new foods. Was it the retried Beans? Or the tuna fish.... Luckily I log everything and know I'm at only 600 calories a day so this to shall pass...

My three week stall is over!! I wanted to cry like a two year old I had lost 16 lbs and then bam was stuck. I thought I was the exception I was gonna be fat forever. I was weighing myself multiple times during the day. Heck my scale said gained two pounds. Well today I'm back to loosing. And I know it's over!!

I feel very fortunate that I never hit a stall. The scale steadily went down. I am 3.7 pounds from goal weight and the scale hasn't moved in about a week. I don't know how people who hit the stalls got through it. It is by the grace of God I did t get them because he knows how inpatient I can be. Thank you God!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
