Iowa_summergirl 46 Posted December 17, 2014 I was warned that I would feel more cold after surgery with all the weight loss, so I expected to be cold this winter (hate Iowa winters to begin with)! Was wondering if I will always feel this cold? Or does your body eventually re-adjust and regulate better?

kikicoates78 220 Posted December 17, 2014 Low carbs will cause this. Carbohydrates fuel and heat the body. I have never been cold natured. I freeze since my surgery.
BeccafromIowa 4 Posted December 17, 2014 Cold doesn't even begin to describe how I feel!! Living in Iowa you would think I would be used to it! It has gotten worse and nothing seems to warm me up! I have the best boyfriend that has bought me a heated mattress pad do at least I can sleep at night!
Iowa_summergirl 46 Posted December 18, 2014 @@BeccafromIowa ....where at in Iowa? We are in NW corner near Sioux Falls. It was 20 degrees today...I can't imagine when we get to the subzero temps that always come!
MS_Science_Sleever 78 Posted December 18, 2014 I have always been hot natured- I am freezing now as well. I thought I was going crazy. Maybe when we get to our goal weight it regulates. I sleep with a heating pad.

jacileggs 402 Posted December 18, 2014 I'm laughing because Iive in canada. Where it is truly cold. I am 11 months post op gastric bypass and am still always cold. I've heard it takes up to 2 years for your body's internal thermostat to readjust to your new lower weight.
AlanaRN 419 Posted December 18, 2014 11 weeks post op and always freezing!!! I too am wondering if it's always going to be like this.
Forsythia 882 Posted December 18, 2014 7 months and still cold. Office buildings are the worst. But in my own house I'm fine. I mean it's December and I'm wearing a short sleeve t-shirt. But I'm at home. If I were in an office building, I'd be sitting in a cubicle freezing.
Susan909 52 Posted December 18, 2014 Two weeks out and freezing. I live in So. Cal whee it's not that cold. I walk around inside and out with layers on. Going to the store is torture, the cold from the frozen food aisle chases me!
Rogofulm 2,440 Posted December 18, 2014 Yup, I'm cold too. Funny thing is that before my surgery I was always hot and my wife was always cold. Now it's the reverse and we have totally flipped how we set the thermostat.. We are both in our 50s. Should I be worried about her feeling warm????!!! MichiganChic 3,262 Posted December 18, 2014 Two years out, and still cold. Not quite as bad as when I was losing. Even in the middle of summer when everyone else is sweating and miserable, I'm not! I love that part. I don't love freezing in Michigan winters, though! I have a lot of warm clothes and blankets. This type of cold is almost painful, and I don't expect it to ever go away totally.
