Your Favorite Treat!

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone,

I was wondering what everyone's little indulgences were. Not food wise, but to reward yourself for maybe a couple pounds lost, or even just to cheer yourself up on a rainy Sunday. It could even be things you use at home to distract yourself so you don't think of food.

Mine are: A Venti Tazo Tea with Skim Milk, Honey, and Splenda from Starbucks or Getting my nails done.

I don't have any great distractions. I definitely think of food less when I'm out of the house. But sometimes I'll ride my exercise bike and if I hit my goal, I'll go get a tea!

I used to spend a fortune on magazines, but when I got hooked on Pinterest.com , I didn't need the magazines at all, as Pinterest covers all of my interests, ( recipes, health and fitness, home decor, women's fashion, etc). But every once in awhile I'll indulge myself and buy a new magazine. Usually a Womens Running or Instyle. That and a cup of of hot tea and Im good !

My favorite gift to myself is riding horses and scuba diving.

For milestones or goals met it is personal indulgences for me. Pedicure, massage, new piece of exercise clothing or socks, etc

For the everyday occupying my time and something to do to distract myself is usually some form of exercise or household organizing. There is always something around the house in need of some desperate attention with 2 boys and a husband. ;)

My favorite treat to do at home to distract myself from eating or snacking in the evenings is to give myself a manicure/pedi. It is hard to snack when your nail polish is drying. I also do face masks in the evening too. This way my nails always look perfect and my skin benefits too!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
