ready2livenow 19 Posted December 16, 2014 My surgery is Thursday (Dec 18th) and I've noticed that most people go on a pre-op liquid or extremely restrictive diet for 1-2 weeks to shrink their liver and hydrate. The only instructions I received were to stay on a low carb diet, take a few doses of Miralax today and tomorrow and only drink Clear Liquids after Breakfast the day before surgery (have breakfast and drink liquids until midnight-no solid food). Anyone else have this same experience?
mrslb5 333 Posted December 16, 2014 Every doctor is different I didn't have to go on liquids for two weeks prior to surgery I just followed what I was instructed to do! good luck!
Salonboi 353 Posted December 16, 2014 Good luck with your surgery Thursday ???? and I sure hope my doc gives me the same directions lol . The whole liquid diet thing for two and three weeks before is very intimidating ???? grant it, I know after surgery it'll be like that for a bit, but with procedure done I won't be hungry lol
Elode 8,093 Posted December 16, 2014 Every surgeon has his/her own pre-op Requirements that they feel is "right" . Yours is a nice easy one : )

Miss Mac 6,262 Posted December 16, 2014 Did you have an ultrasound of your liver? Maybe your surgeon figured that yours was in good enough shape to proceed without the shrinking. Not having the two week liquid diet will make the whole process easier to endure.
ready2livenow 19 Posted December 17, 2014 No ultrasound. And the instructions seem to be pretty standard for my surgeon because of the paperwork they gave me. I'm ready for surgery. I can't wait to be on the other side and heal up.
