Good luck everyone! Anyone else not sleep last night? I didn't. I was like a kid waiting for Santa to come lol. My surgery isn't til 1030a today so needless to say I'm a ball of nerves and excitement. I've been awake and out of bed since 430a reminding myself not to eat or drink anything. Well not eating is fine now but it's the no drinking that I have to remember. I can't wait to hear from everyone to see how everything went. I'll be sure to share just as soon as I can too. For now, I'll continue my countdown. Lol

Hello 12/29 sleepers. How is everyone doing? I Got out of surgery 3pm. My surgeon found a hiatal hernia and repaired it while doing my sleeve. Had some nausea and dry heaves right after, but gone now. Waiting to have sleeve leak test this morning and if all goes well, be discharged today. Am walking, and sip, sip, siping and happy to be on the losers bench at last.

All done! I went into surfer at 2:30, but didn't wake up fully and get to my room until almost 7pm. The pain was crazy! But once the meds started to kick in, I was all good! I've been nauseous only while standing and then it goes away. I've been walking with all these lines everywhere and using my lung breather machine. Sipping on cranberry juice (diet) it tastes the best and I hated cranberry juice before. My tummy is a little sore but manageable.. And to think I was soo afraid of this part. Everything's going swell. But the person in the room down the hall doesn't seem to be having the best time ????. Sadly I hear them throwing up , heaving and crying. So sad. I'll be praying for them just like soo many prayed for me.

In the meantime ladies and gents, make sure you sip it makes you feel better and walking is awesome, it helps gets some air moving and makes you feel better and use your breathing thingy.

Hopefully I'll go home later today.. But question ... Is anyone getting discharged without a leak test?? That's freaking me out. Dr said I don't need one... Hmmm

Anyway good luck all! Be blessed!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
