I had RNY 12/16/2014. It has been a great year! I have felt great from the first week of surgery, no complications, no real problems with any foods or anything. I am so thankful that I went through with it and didn't chicken out as I thought about doing many times in the preliminary stages ;)

I am 5' 2" and my original starting goal for myself was 140lbs, however I am now at 121lbs!

I cannot believe how fast this year has flown by!!

One year today on December 15, 2014, I was given a new life and a second chance to live my life to the fullest instead of letting it pass me by. I want to wish myself a Happy One Year Anniversary on my weight loss journey! I may not have hit my goal of losing 200lbs by today, but I am proud of the 185lbs that I have lost. Plus, I know that I will get pass this stall and hit my goal of 239 very soon. This journey has had its ups and downs but it is worth it, so I can live to grow old with my husband and see our kids grow up and have a family of their own. I have to thank my family and friends for all the love and support they have given me while I have been on this journey. It is just the beginning for me and my family, as we all start to really enjoy life and all that it has to offer.

Hi everyone. My name is Vickie and I had rny on 12-16. Starting weight was 267lbs, post up went up to 276lbs, but now down to 265lbs. Had a small complication that kept me in the hospital an extra night, but now that I've been home things seem to be going really well. My doctor has me on a strict clear liquid diet for 1 week then I move on to full liquids for 2 more weeks. It's interesting as I read through these forums how different the diets are. Looking forward to this new adventure. Good luck everyone.

Hi everyone my surgery WAS 17 of Dec 2014 I am doing a lot better since my first 3 months just got out of the hospital again had some type of a blockage with an ulcer doctor went in there and did surgery I feel like it's coming along fine I have a follow up on the 29th I guess there's only 2% that get this blockage after surgery and I was one of the 2% 50 50 chance I will heal completely so I'm hoping it waves to my side. I was an almost 274 pounds when I started contemplating getting the surgery now I'm 151 yeah yeah I feel good other than the what's happening right now. Have never had so much energy. Don't want to lose too much more but the doctor wants me at 140 pounds it moves slowly I see a drop maybe every two weeks now. Best of everything to all and let's all HANG IN THERE.

I'm 15 lbs from my goal. My doc says it will take a year to lose the last bit. It is frustrating.

I'm one year out and down 113 pounds! This was the fastest year of my life! I am so happy that I finally made the decision to have surgery. Best decision I ever made! I still have a little ways to go but I am so pleased with my progress. post-227134-14512343488086_thumb.jpg

Hello, Everyone! My RNY was 12/10 /14. My highest weight was 280 and I started this adventure at 245. I was 204 the day of surgery and I'm 132 today. Only 4 pounds from goal! I can't say that this has been an easy year (kidney stones and surgery to remove them) but it has been an AMAZING year! Along with gaining back my health, I gained a daughter in law and my first grandchild (Gabriel just turned 6 months old)! Today is my 60th birthday and when doing my hair this morning, I realized that I'm less grey than I was. Apparently, after the Hair loss, when all the new hair grew in, it came back in my pre-grey original color! Talk about a great birthday present!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
