I am 9 months out from gastric bypass. I have been keeping myself at 1000 calories a day, sometimes but nit often, up to 2000. How many calories are you eating a day?

My average is 1100. I aim for 100, but some days are better than others, that is why I "average."

Correction, I aim for 1000! Not 100!

I've been trying to slow or stop my weightloss so I'm drinking calories as often as I can. I'm standard at the 1000-1300 range but do go up to 1800 some days.

I think calories needs depend on weight/size, activity, age etc. I'm 49, not very active at the moment, and down to 157 (from 260).

I'm 6 weeks out and I'm between 600-800. That will increase to between 1000-1200.

I am 20 months out and at 1800 calories . I'm 5' 9" and 155 lbs... If I start gaining I just lower my calories but mainly concentrate on getting my Protein in , 80-100 grams a day ...

About 5.5 mos out and I too out at 950-1000 max. Once in a while I can go a little higher---when there's a full moon and my cycle is coming. Lol!

I am small in height, just kissing 5'3". Currently 195. Down from 265. Goal is 125.....so this current amount is about all I can handle. Remember, everyone is different so this is all relative. Do what works for you & move your body as much as you can. Best wishes!

Wow! 5'9" and 155 pounds is great. I assume your in maintenance phase and we all have different BMR's depending on our height, gender, age, and activity level. So if that caloric amount keeps you at your maintenance phase I think you found your sweet spot. I really struggle with what the "right weight" is for myself. My doctor says one thing and my nutritionist says another. One takes into account body structure and the other uses "the chart." Did you have bounce back weight? My doctor said his patients tend to hit their their bottom weight and gain about 10 lbs or so and level out. I am 5'4 and have a large bone structure. I am currently a size 8. I actually slipped into a size 6 pair of jeans and was able to button them. I am happy with my clothed figure...still working on weight/strength training to tighten up as much as possible underneath. Oddly enough my breasts bother me more than my tummy. Boy have things gone way south. But for Christmas I got a Victoria Secret gift card. Yay! I am still wearing some size 16 undies lol...ready for some undergarments that fit. Well that's my tangent for the day...night all!

I hate the stalls!! I'm 5'3 with a small bone structure. Right now I'm bouncing between 190-193#. Almost 9 months out & the weight loss is so much slower. My goal weight is 130, although with all the extra skin, I'm not sure I will get that low. I'm still not sure if I'm getting enough calories, maybe putting myself in starvation mode. 1000 calories really isn't much & I'm not losing. But I'm so afraid to up it. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm down to an Lg/XLG top & size 16-20 bottoms (depending on the make). I am extremely happy with the 160# weight loss, but I want to hit my goal. I'm just feeling a little discouraged at this point. Help!!!!

I recall my NUT telling me once that going under 1000 can and will eventually stall me. Not sure if she was referring specifically to "me" or if she meant in general........

My therapist reminds me that I didn't get to where I was overnight, so don't expect to get to where I am going, overnight. I think the fact that you are mindful about it means you are still on the right path but let patience guide you too. That's been my struggle...I was born lacking both patience & empathy (so I've been told) and those are two qualities I am working hard to cultivate. Knowing this about myself I read as much as I could about stalls so I could be mentally prepped for them when they happen and not revert to my old habit of complete and utter breakdowns! LOL@my crazy "old" self.

Forgive me if you've already answered this question but do you use a nutrition tracker? That helps. My NUT also said change up my foods and exercises too because that can help to break a stall. I still do Protein first but I continue adding different, healthy kinds of Proteins. Some weeks I do no cardio, just weights, but I still work to get in at least 8,000 steps a day......

I am just about right where you are in height and weight and since I hit onederland I've found my weight hovering around 197-195 for the past two weeks. Its frustrating......but surgeon told me that will happen. Keep on trucking and before you know it you'll be looking back at this current stall and laughing because you left it in the dust and will be even closer to goal!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
