Ok. So I start my two week preop liquid diet today. I can have a lean meat and a green veggie at night though. So that's nice. Surgery on the 29th.

My surgery is the 23rd so I started the preop diet last week. Mine is similar to yours. 2 Protein shakes and a lean and green meal. All the "free" veg I want to snack on. Good news is I've lost about 8 lbs. Bad news is I'm hungry as hell!! ????

I try to remember it's the start of a process and this too shall pass ????

Good luck!

What flavor Isopure do you have? I've heard some "not so good things" about the taste. Start my preop diet soon (mine is 1 week) and surgery on the 31st.

Hi, my surgery is on Dec 30th, too!!! I will be right there with you!! We will both be toasting the New Year with our 1 oz. medicine cup of Water in the hospital, lol!!! ???? ???? ???? I am excited, but nervous too. I think it's natural, as it would be before any type of major surgery. The most nerve racking thing for me is my fear of the unknown. I have always feared change, especially any big changes in my life, and this will by far be the biggest one yet. However, I am in therapy, and it helps to work on new coping skills other than eating, which up until I entered into the weight loss surgery program at Boston Medical Center almost a year ago, had been my go-to coping mechanism for any type of stress, depression and anxiety. I have major depression and generalized anxiety disorder, so it's been tough going, but I am trying harder and improving every day. It's a process for me, and will probably never stop being one. But since I first started this weight loss surgery journey on Dec. 13, 2013, up until my pre-op appointment on Dec. 11, 2014, literally almost a year ago, I have really tried to change my way of thinking and behavior in terms of eating, and I'm proud to say it worked. I have lost 46 pounds on my own, so I'm starting to be more confident that I can handle life after surgery. I would definitely appreciate lots of support and encouragement on this forum though, since I'm sure not every day is smooth sailing!!! Any advice for the day of discharge from the hospital and the first week or two at home would sure be helpful right now!!! It's coming up so fast!!! ???? ????

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
