lexa2014 7 Posted December 14, 2014 Hello everyone! If you reading this THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'm a spicy food/sauce lover! When it's ok to start eating spicy foods, I had my gastric sleeve in October 2014! Thank you Lord :-) ... I was wondering if is too soon to give it a try. What you guys think ? BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted December 14, 2014 I would test the waters and see. I am a spicy food lover as well. I was sleeved in September and started adding spicy back around 6 weeks post op. I was cautious and didn't go as spicy as I usually do but so far I'm okay.
Miss Mac 6,262 Posted December 14, 2014 I was given the go-ahead for regular food at 4 1/2 weeks. As soon as I got out that door, I went to Wendy's down the street and got a small Chili. I only ate four bites, but it was the four bites ever! We cook Mediterranean style in this house with garlic and onion in almost everything. There has never been a problem. I do take it easy with salsa (mild not hot). A couple of weeks ago (at 11 months) I had a stuffed jalapeno and regretted it immediately.
Thenewnic 139 Posted December 14, 2014 I've been drinking/eating spicy since two weeks out with no prob. My sleeve doesn't have problems with spicy, but I get nauseas with plain mash potatoes. My NUT says it's what you can tolerate. Try tiny bites and go from there.

BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted December 14, 2014 When I say I like spicy, I like really spicy. I don't eat Wendy's because I don'e eat meat, but I used to add cayenne pepper to my salads and put Sriracha on my potatoes. In fact I put sriracha on EVERYTHING prior to surgery. I started out adding just a few drops to my Soups. I'm still not full on hot & spicy, but I can use beloved pepper sauce again.
rumpole6 12 Posted December 14, 2014 I've had Wendy's chili and Cosi Chili with no problems. I'd say you could give it a try.
