Not losing any weight since day of surgery

Recommended Posts

My sleeve was done on Dec 3 and I haven't lost a single ounce since my surgery!!

Ugh I'm so frustrated :-( Has this happened to anyone? Any suggestions or idea why this is happening to me? TIA

Mine was Dec. 3rd as well. Are you getting your Protein shakes and Water in? Are you walking? What is your daily intake like?

I just had surgery Wed, 12/10/14. I've lost 6lbs. I'm able to drink 32oz so far.

There will be stalls but you will start losing again. Hang in there continue the Water and eating right!

Don't get frustrated. Remain calm. :) there are so many reasons that might play a factor why the scale isn't moving... The main thing is to stay on target and remain focused and positive. The little engine that could. Keep sip sip sipping your Water and Protein. I'm 6 wks out and battering a stall myself so rest assured this won't be your first and it won't be the last. All our bodies are different and we all handle things different. Just follow Drs orders

Walk as much as you can. This will help because it is a physical activity and if your moving your getting things started. Hugs of support!

I'm 3.5 weeks out and just finished my first stall. I think for me it was not getting enough calories. Once I started adding real calories into my food instead of just broths and Protein shakes, the weight started coming off again (I was only getting about 300 a day before).

It's early days yet. Are you drinking 60 ounces of Water and getting in 60 gms of Protein? It took me weeks to work up to that. As long as you aren't gaining just be patient and give your body time to adjust.

I'm getting 76g grams of Protein per day the last 5 days, although the first 6 days I did only 20g per day if that!. Can't handle the store bought Protein shakes since surgery as they make me nauseous now for some reason. So I've been making my own Protein smoothie made with greek yogurt skim milk and fruit. I walk at least a mile everyday. My daily meals are 3 yogurt smoothies at 22g protein per, cream Soup 7g protein once a day, Carnation Instant Breakfast sugar free w/skim milk 13g protein once a day. I drink caffeine free Crystal light Ice Tea all day long. Again this morning scale hasn't budged. smh

Step away from the scale. It will only make you crazy. I only weigh myself when I go to the doctor's but if you must weigh yourself at home, no more than once a week.

TBH - I would drop the carnation drink. It's probably too high in carbs. However, keep in mind the lower your BMI, the harder it will be for the weight to come off. More importantly relax. It will happen.

Yep! What they said I know it can be frustrating but your body just went through major trauma give it time to adjust.

Watch the fruit if you are putting it in all your smoothies. Lots of sugar. Hang in there!

I was sleeved on Nov.19 and have only lost 7 lbs since then. That's from official weigh in at the docs for my 2 week post op visit.the scale at home isn't budging although I can tell I've lost inches. I'm feeling very discouraged. I'm trying to move along but I'm getting depressed to the point that I'm wishing I never had the surgery. Eating is no longer fun...so I basically drink Protein Drinks and Water. Maybe some homemade pureed Soup now and then. Been crying. Not good. I see others who were sleeved when I was and they have dramatic weight lost. I actually lost more weight in the pre-op diet (10 lbs in 10 days) than I did in my first 2 weeks post-op. They tell me it's not a race but it's discouraging.

I say this enough that it should be my new mantra. Step away from the scale. 7lbs is fine. Some of us are slow but steady losers. Just keep doing what you should. Please don't beat yourself up or compare your weight loss progress to others.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
