I'm 6 weeks out and was able to eat a whole taco with shell. No upsets? I would think that would be too much food! Comments?

Three weeks after my surgery, i went home for memorial day. I was on soft solids at the time. I was in the train station and the only thing that seemed kind of healthy was tacos. So, one of my first meals was a taco. Once you remove the tortilla, there really isn't a whole lot in there. I had no issue with it at all.

I am also six weeks out and just had a taco this week. I was worried too, but my nut says like 3/4 cup food and I don't think it is really more than that, so I am hoping is ok.

I am so jealous! :) I would love love love a taco. However I've been having a difficult time transitioning between stages and find my monster sleeve rebels often on new things. Heck I'm 6wks and still having hard time getting in my liquids. I am however learning the tricks to help with my Fluid intake. But oh how I miss texture like really crunchy lettuce ! Or celery or taco shell lol :)

With shell? That sounds like a lot. It's good that you didn't get sick, but I don't understand why you would want to eat a taco shell. It full of processed carbs and grease. Isn't that counter productive to why you had the surgery in the first place?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
