gamecockfan864 6 Posted December 13, 2014 I'm on pins and needles to get approved for the sleeve surgery. My psych evaluation was sent but they wanted a second opionion from my main psychiatrist that I have been seeing for two years now and she thinks i should have it done. Is there anything I should be worried about? I know in the letter she wrote i have chronic deppression and eposidic alchol abuse (drinking to much in college). My egd showed my stomach half full so they ordered a gastric emptying study although I believe part of the problem was overindulging until the cut off point for no food or Water. I'm worrired my stomach isn't emptying fast enough and I will have bad news on the upcoming test. Has anyone had this problem or a suggestion? I've been reaserching online and the RNY may be an option. Everything seems like more and more waiting and additional test. I'm self pay and thought these test would be the least worrisome part of the proccess, especially the psych evaluation. My nerves are through the roof because I'm sincierly scared of not being able to have the surgery. ANY advice or suggestions would be Greatly appreciated. Miss Mac 6,262 Posted December 13, 2014 If you want to do your own gastric emptying test out of curiosity, just make sure you do not eat corn for a few days.......then eat some corn................then no more corn until the other corn comes through. That will give you a rough idea of that process.
Mrs. Reid 392 Posted December 13, 2014 If you are self-pay, why are you worried? If the program you are in rejects you....you can just go to Mexico.
gamecockfan864 6 Posted December 13, 2014 Mexico? I haven 't reasearched much about the surgery being performed in mexico. That's would be last result. I was asking more if anyone had experienced this or knerw someone that hasnt been approved or disapproved for surgery for the reasons i stated in OP . BitterSweet* 835 Posted December 14, 2014 Why did you overindulge right up to the cut off point of getting your EGD done? Your chances of success and adjustment to a new lifestyle after VSG will be easier if you begin making some changes now, before surgery, and overindulging doesn't fall into that realm.
