Help...

4 days out from surgery with no weight loss since before it.

Still very gassy, but it is finally passing. Drinking the 2 4oz shakes a day and flavored water, so I'm getting the liquids in. Started going out for longer periods yesterday for walking and got very dizzy several times. I'm taking my Vitamins, ,, not sure what to do next? Any ideas or similar experiences? Help...

You are not a slow loser because you haven't even gotten to the losing phase yet. You are full of fluids they gave you IV, your body is swollen and traumatized and now starved due to lack of food. I weighed the exact same 11 days postop as I did day of surgery. And the only reason I weighed so soon was because it was New Years Day and I wanted a starting and ending stat for 2014. But really, all you are supposed to be doing at this point is getting in all your Water, Protein and Vitamins. As soon as you are cleared, you need to start eating and adding calories. You are probably dizzy due to lack of nutrition (8oz of Protein Drink is barely anything) I was drinking 2-3 12oz Protein drinks by the 5th day. I sipped from the time I woke up till the time I went to bed and had plenty of energy to return to work after 7 days.

And weighing yourself is not necessary right now. Just relax, let yourself heal, get in as much as you can and step on the scale in about a month for a pleasant surprise.

What @@Kindle said....my goodness girl, your FOUR DAYS OUT. Give yourself a break! Do me a favor, stay off the scale for a week and just concentrate on getting your fluids and your Protein in. Healing is your first priority right now. You will see the weight come off, I promise! Your body just needs to do some adjusting, that's all :)

I gained 12 pounds in the hospital in two days. It took me a week and a half to get back to where I started, then at week three I hit that darned stall. Finally at 4 1/2 weeks I started losing again.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
