Stalled and starting to worry

Recommended Posts

I have been stalled for a while now and it is seriously starting to worry me. Even though I have been losing inches, the scale is stuck. LOL! I work out 5 days a week, eat well most of the time (Proteins, shakes, etc.). I know I wasn’t eating enough calories at one point so I have been working on increasing my calorie intake. I am started to worry that this is it… that I won’t lose any more weight. Is feeling like this normal?

It will break.

I had a six week stall that broke a few weeks ago.

There is really nothing to worry about, especially if you are still losing inches. You are losing fat and gaining muscle. Just do what you are supposed to do and it will happen!

I had like a 2-3 month stall from the 166-169 range. It was very frustrating, but I added in more cardio and broke the stall, only to get stuck yet again at 156. I find that the more you lose the more often you get stuck. Most recently I spent a month at 137 and two weeks at 135. As long as you're monitoring your calories and working out, eventually the scale will move. :)

So happy to read about the stalls. Not happy you have to experience it, but happy I am not alone. I am 12 weeks post op and have not lost anything in 4 weeks. I am not being stellar in my eating but am getting Water and Protein in... I have lost about 30. And have about that much more to lose. I think I need to spend some time on this site, drink more, exercise a bit longer and write it all down. Good luck to all of you!

All that's working for me. Good luck to you.

Stalls suck! I try to end them by increasing my Water intake and being extra careful about waiting 2 hours minimum between meals and snacks- I can easily backslide into light grazing and those calories add up. Hang in there!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
