Went in for my 1 week post-op check up and to get my staples taken out today and was happy to see that I'm already 9 lbs down...even on my period (started last night)...so I imagine having lost a little more with the extra Fluid and bloat gone after.

Still in a good amount of pain/discomfort but I'm keeping active as well as resting when I can. Thankfully, I have the luxury and blessing of having my mom close enough to take my 14-month daughter at night when my hubby is at work so I don't have to attempt picking her up and keeping up after a toddler. Sure makes those rare cuddles from her all the better❤️????

Starting a new job next week then a nursing program in January...busy, busy, busy, but that's how I used to roll and I can't wait to get back into my groove (I'm already feeling the 'want' again).

Finding it difficult to eat refried Beans, cottage cheese, eggs, etc. The feeling that it's stuck in my throat is far from comfy. However, my favorite thing I've found so far is this steel-cut oatmeal that is maple and brown sugar flavored. Much to thirsty to really want to eat anything, but all the cravings are there that I can't have right now...but even when I think of the cravings for long, they start to sound gross. Beefy Mushroom Soup by Campbell's (mushrooms taken out) has been kind and my favorite Water flavor is Tropical Coconut by Crystal Light.

~Happy Losing and Happy Holidays!!

That's great news!! I was sleeved dec 9 and struggling a bit. No medical complications- thank god! Just some mental ones. I have not lost any weight at all. Literally!! In fact I'm still a few pounds heavier than my surgery date weight! How is that even possible? I've been on Nothing but the clear and full liquid phase. ( pudding, yogurt and soups) I don't know how I'm going to stay on this phase until dec 23 when I'm supposed to start soft/puréed foods.

I'm just a bit frustrated. I have lost more weight on my own before the surgery while eating more than I've lost this last week eating nothing.

I feel hungry which I've read is the acid so I'm getting back to taking my Nexium. I get about 50 grams of Protein a day and about 50 oz of Water. I know I need to up both but it's been so hard to get the Protein powder down. I need to go buy some ready made shakes tomorrow.

I went for 1st checkup today. I was down almost 10lbs. Apparently my scale is busted. Which is odd bc it was in sync w the dr right up until surgery. He is going to let me move to phase 3 of 4 on Saturday a few days early if I get all my fluids in the next few days.

Hi. Ends up I actually had a small complication w the left side incision. The dr had to re cut and open it to clean it out. There was a hematoma there. I feel completely pain free now. But the one drawback is that as of Mon I have been treating an open wound. I have to pack it every day so I need to keep activity to a min. But better to have caught it now then after an infection set in. I'm 18 days out and 18 lbs down. Bummed about the setback but still overall glad I went through w the procedure.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
