mom2twoboys 3 Posted December 12, 2014 My Doctor placed the referral for bariatric surgery today. He said they would be able to answer my questions, and I can decide after my consultation. He said that he highly recommends it. The weight needs to go. I am 36 years old, 344lbs. Im a mom of two boys. I'm married, my hubby had a spinal cord injury, so I am left taking care of the family. I am scared, I admit it. I am mad at myself for putting on this weight. I've been trying to loose for years.. Bad habits die hard. If anyone can give me advice, I'd appreciate it. Djmohr 6,965 Posted December 12, 2014 Don't be scared, I know it is easy to say that but do your research, it will remove a lot of the fears. As soon as I went to my first seminar which I took online I started getting very excited. I then went to an in person seminar and began reading up on the different options for surgery. You have already taken the first steps by getting on this site, keep researching and asking a lot of questions until you are comfortable with your choices and ultimately your decision. I was 310lbs and had so many medical issues that my spouse was practically taking care of me and I hated it! Then I was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease and my doctor suggested I cons Weight loss surgery. That day I started researching and 9 months later had my surgery. I am down 63 lbs in 11 weeks. My diabetes is in remission, high cholesterol is gone, high blood pressure is gone, and kidney disease has improved. I feel fantastic already and I am only 11 weeks post op! It takes a lot of hard work and patience but it is worth it. It is one of the best decisions I have ever made! Good luck to you guys!
MarylandCrab 25 Posted December 15, 2014 Hi there! I just started the process, too. I had my first consultation with the surgery coordinator/nutritionist on Thursday and have to start scheduling all of my tests. Looks like June will be my surgery. It's time that we are done with the shame that we couldn't lose what we wanted to. It's time we move on and realize it is what it is and that we will be changing our lives for the better. It's okay to be afraid. Just in the last few days that I've been on this forum, I've found it to be very comforting.
brightlife0305 40 Posted December 15, 2014 My surgery is in 3 days. I've been feeling both scared and excited but I'm actually getting more excited as it gets closer. You're gonna be alright. Keep on tuning in to this site. I have found it to be very comforting and a huge help with my fears. I've had it with living with all this extra weight on me. I'm sure you and everyone else can relate. I'm so ready - ready to restart the rest of my life! The liquid diet I'm on now isn't fun, I'm hungry all the time but no one ever said this was gonna be a piece of cake. I already feel weight coming off and it feels fantastic! This liquid diet will make the surgery easier for my surgeon and safer for me. I have a 21 yr old son and he has never seen me below 250 lbs. I'm going to wish I'd done it much sooner, I'm sure! Keep on keepin' on, I say! What a way to start a new year! This time, that same old resolution will stick! Hallelujah!
