I am currently on the soft food phase....going to Orlando for Christmas with family...my question is can I have Protein Bars? Anyone eating these during this phase? Disney world doesn't have many options and any thoughts are appreciated. I plan on asking my nutritionist but wanted feedback as well.

Probably depends on what's in the Protein Bar. Some, like Quest have a pretty soft chewy texture, and some have a lot of nuts in them. The former is probably OK, but not the latter. I'd also take a shaker bottle and Protein powders you can mix with Water. And other than the "fast food stands", there are actually a lot of restaurants that would give you good options....especially in Epcot.

You could bring string cheese and Starkist to go lunch packets and have tuna salad minus the crackers. You can also check the menus of the various restaurants online. I know there are some places that serve Soups, chowders, veggie quiche, egg salad or tuna fish sandwiches, hummus, chili, grilled chicken, and even fresh fruit.< /p>

Disney parks are totally cool with you bringing your own food, so you should be able to stay on soft foods and not risk hurting anything/feeling sick/etc. The only downside is that you have to haul it around with you.

I went to Disneyland and had the same issue. I packed 2 Premier Protein shakes everyday and then I found some hummus and then ate Soup at restaurants. It is tough so you might want to plan ahead. Good luck

If there are any specific restaurants in the parks that you are planning to eat at, especially table service (sit down, not fast food type), let them know about your restrictions when you're seated.

Disney is extremely accommodating to special diets and the majority of the time the chef will come out to speak with you about your requirements and then cook you a personalized meal.

(I used to work at Disney's Hollywood Studios.)

Also, allears.net has comprehensive menus for all of the restaurants in Disney.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
