AMDRN 5 Posted December 11, 2014 I am now 6 months post-op (sleeve) and have lost 100 lbs during this time!! I am beyond thrilled and feel amazing!! I was wondering though if any other women noticed any changes in their periods in this timeframe? I am very regular but am noticing that periods are a little shorter and lighter (not a bad thing), I also just turned 40 and am hoping that this is related to the rapid weight loss/exercise and not the beginning of perimenopause! My husband and I have not been able to conceive due to my obesity and I realize that I am now "old", but still hoping there may be a chance. I would love any feedback from those that have been there! Thank you!
Dr-Patient 830 Posted December 11, 2014 Hi. It is likely due to the weight loss (in a good way); the obesity may have given you longer/heavier periods. But...to rest your mind re: if it's perimenopause, have your OB/GYN check new levels of FSH, LH and estradiol. Make sure you know what day of your cycle it is when the blood is being drawn. Remember, 'Day 1' is the first day of your cycle.]
realrawuncutsleeve 30 Posted December 11, 2014 That has got to be A GOOD THING for me I noticed as my weight increased over the years my period was longer and I thought it was cause I was getting older so thanks for GIVING ME EVEN MORE TO LOOK Forward to once I have my surgery!!! Kate M 60 Posted December 13, 2014 We store estrogen in our fat. Obese women have heavier periods because of all that estrogen. Your lighter periods are normal. I'm a women's health NP fwiw
