I'm 9 days post op I've woken up 2 different nights with extreme bad taste in mouth or bad breath to the point of having to get up and brush my teeth I have not vomited although I've been nauseated a couple of mornings. Anyone Else Had This Or Suggestions Thanks

I'll be two months out on Saturday and I'm still experiencing this. I just brush, floss, and mouthwash a lot.

it's part of ketosis(sp?) you can use biotene, which is suppose to help with the dry mouth that is part of the problem... it goes away in time, but so annoying during its process...

Yes, it's more than likely because your body is in ketosis. When ever you limit your carbs to an extreme like most of us do on pre-op diets and after surgery our body's start burning stored fat as its fuel source And that fat break down is what's making your breath yucky!! (That's the short of it) it's called ketosis breath and its a good thing (and annoying!) Brushing your teeth ect..can help mask it but the smell is coming from your insides so there's really nothing you can do about it until it either goes away by its self or you up your carb intake. Drink lots of Water (well what you can). Embrace the stinky-ness lol!!

It could be from what ever meds you may be taking. And sometimes even when we think we are drinking what seem like a ton it's really not as much as our body actually needs. It will go away...eventually.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
