Lap Band July 26, 2014

Recommended Posts

I have read so many successful stories I felt compelled to add mine and I hope it reaches to at least one person. I know every post is a great tool of encouragement and I believe that to be the most awesome gift for all of us.

So this was me....4'11, female at 348 pounds....working extremely hard to deny the fact that I needed to make a change. So of course I went to the WLS seminar and it hit me I don't want to be referred to as fat anymore, potential diabetic, high blood pressure, pain in my knees or feet...everyone seemed to have an answer for what I had become. Then I decided to take control of my life and no longer allow anyone to dictate my person so I had the Lap band done on July 26, 2014 honestly it was not difficult why because we all first need to decide who we love more...Ourselves or the ignorant comments people make that cause us to spiral and become more overweight. I chose myself and I have not looked back and today my beautiful Men and Women I am down to 283 pounds and I have yet to have any fills.

If there is anyone who feels their not ready take that feeling and throw it out the window because you are ready to make a difference for yourself not anyone else. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL AND YOU DESERVE ONLY GREATNESS AND NOTHING LESS!!

That is correct I have not had a fill...the only thing I am doing is following the Dr.s instructions and that's it. I eat only 3 meals a day and do not snack. For Breakfast I usually have a Milk chocolate Atkins Protein Shake, lunch any Protein and vegetables and dinner protein and a salad and as for beverage of choice I only drink Crystal Light Lemonade and for coffee only Decaf with 1 sweet n low pack and that's everyday. It's not boring or tiresome to eat this way you can get creative but, I stay away from Carbs and cheating because for me cheating a few times always led me to failure...so you pick your battles how best you can handle but after awhile your body will become accustom to your new eating habits and feel better.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
