sweatpants 7 Posted December 11, 2014 I'm having a tough time right now. I'm craving sweets like Cookies to go with my Decaf coffee. I only drink about 12 oz a night, I work 3rd shift, and I can't stand the Protein Bars constantly. Im also wanting to eat fast foods as im bored with what i cook. What have you guys dealt with when it comes to this? Btw, I'm 3 months out from my sleeve.

woo woo 872 Posted December 11, 2014 (edited) if you haven't done so already, I highly recommend cutting out sugar as much as you possibly can. It creates those cravings and also stimulates your appetite a lot. I can immediately tell the difference for days after I have something with lots of sugar in it so I try to abstain completely. This is a great recent thread with a ton of delicious ideas for easy meals and snacks: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/326291-convenience-foods-made-me-fat-these-food-are-keeping-me-thin/?hl=%20convenience%20%20food Edited December 11, 2014 by woo woo
sweatpants 7 Posted December 11, 2014 @Elode. I do need to find some that I can just pop in my mouth. I made some oatmeal, applesauce chocolate chip cookie drops. No sugar added. They didn't bake up like I would've wanted, but I'll have to stop being lazy and try again. You have anything you like?
sweatpants 7 Posted December 11, 2014 @@woo woo. Thanks . I use splenda in my coffee or hot chocolate or Desserts that I make at home. But I have been eating more real sugar recently. I have to be stronger to avoid sugar. My nutritionist said I need about 3 days away from sugar and the body stops craving it. It's so damn hard in the holidays. I picked a bad time to have my surgery. Lol.
Elode 8,093 Posted December 11, 2014 (edited) @@sweatpants One of my favorite deserts are low carb mini cheesecakes made in cupcake wrappers! I don't use any "crust" I never liked the crust. They have recipes on line when You bake them like that you have little individual servings AND you can use sugar free Jello to change the flavors of the cheesecake by adding a little to the mix! Love! And good with coffee! Edited December 11, 2014 by Elode

sunflowerchild 146 Posted December 11, 2014 What about a sugar free cookie flavored Creamer for your coffee? I know now especially around the holidays they have tons of different flavors like snicker doodle or sugar cookie
sweatpants 7 Posted December 11, 2014 Wow. That's an idea. I didn't think of those flavors. The sugar free ones just done taste as good. Never tried snicker doodle.
Stevehud 1,790 Posted December 11, 2014 the Russell stover stuff was expressly forbidden to me by the surgeon and nutritionist because the are full of sugar alcohols which is sugar , your body turns them into sugar more slowly so they don't cause a high glucose surge in your blood but the sugar is the same once it does hit the blood. So might as well just have the real one.
bobbyswife 862 Posted December 11, 2014 Eat sweets = Crave sweets. Rinse and repeat. Gotta stop that cycle, it's horrendous.
sweatpants 7 Posted December 11, 2014 I agree bobbyswife. I don't want to fail. I've invested too much with my life change. I know all of this. I guess I needed some reinforcement and encouragement. Plus some good ideas to combat the cravings. Right now all I have is fruit, light and fit greek yogurt, healthy nut crunch and Protein bars.
