Have you ever given 100% of yourself or sometimes more and it's as if the other person could careless. I sure hope my dating life gets easier after Surgery. Maybe I'll have the sense to stop trying with those that take me for granted. It's like I'm trying to make up for the chaotic verbal and psychological abuse I survived in childhood. It's amazing that I even know how to show my eight year old love and affection. #feeling down

I can relate, but guess what? We cant depend on others to shower us with love until we love our self. Don't allow it to effect your relationship with your child. It will get better. I had my surgery in June and I weighed 314. I am now 225, pushing to get to 175. My boyfriend has been there for me, but lately as I am getting smaller, he is no longer as happy. He feels as if someone may come in and take his place. I explained to him that I did the surgery for health reasons, but if he continues to treat me the way that he has, then I'm gone and wont think twice about it. Why should I be penalize for getting smaller and feeling and looking better. The nerve of him..... We deserve to be happy so please don't allow one person to make you feel any different. Have you had the surgery yet?

I'm sorry :( You DO deserve better. Don't allow people to treat you that way! This is one of my favorite sayings by Eleanor Roosevelt:

"Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent"

Don't give them your consent! You are worth it.

You go Babbs! My counselor told me years ago never to give anyone the power to make you feel so bad. So you take that power back. No one has that right.

Instead of thinking "I love him, so why does he treat me this way?" start thinking "Why would I love someone who treats me this way?"

I never thought to look away it that way. Thanks.

I've never heard that quote before. I like it! It's true...

My mother always told me "Can't nobody ride your back unless you bend over. "(Southern charm, right? ) I do get it. I've been in a situation where where I've made someone a priority and they only looked at me as a possibility. Yuck. It's ironic how I want to be treated a certain way(or so I claim) but have, on more occasions than I'd care to admit, accepted less than that. It's like I laid out the welcome mat that says, "Desperately want to be loved, but will accept lukewarm affection and any form of emotional unavailability, instability or personality disorders! " Thank heavens those days are long gone.

I'm sure your dating life will get better when you feel better about yourself. People will treat you better when you treat you better.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
