What are your favorite things to wear now that the weight is gone?

Hi all!

I'm still in the pre - op phase but I'm curious for those who are at or near goal, what do you love wearing now that you didn't before? Maybe that's a weird question but I've always been into clothes and style and can't wait to wear things that never looked right on me at my current weight.

Skinny jeans (or skinny on ME jeans, I have large calves from running so true skinny jeans gap at the waist, butt and hips if they fit my calves!). Leggings with big sweaters. Above the knee skirts. Sundresses. Yoga clothes (including those flimsy sport bras I never thought would work on me--they still don't when I run, but are perfect for yoga). My hair up (DH used to always say I needed to wear my hair down to balance out my body so I didn't look like a pinhead!)

Skinny jeans with riding boots or Uggs.......I would never wear skinny jeans at 200lbs and my calves would not fit into boots.

Boots, boots and more boots! My calves are now small enough to wear any boot I want! Loving my leggings and high boots :)

A swimsuit. I no longer refuse to be seen in a swimsuit and can get in the pool with my kids.

I am enjoying wearing dresses with waistlines. Even though "What Not to Wear" did not advise it, at my higher weight I tended toward tent shaped dresses. They fit my bust and belly. Now my dresses are fitted and I look so much more polished and professional.

One of the things I got was a corset for my Renaissance outfit... I used to wear a BIG ol' dress...now I wear a fitted corset with leggings and boots!!! I feel kind of sexy wearing it :)

I want to get another pair of boots and try with leggings and a long top too... I used to love that look "back in the day" when you used slouch socks (age teller???)

My friends and DH are constantly telling me to get rid of stuff that's too baggy, but it's still hard to let go...

I'm not a big clothes shopper/hoarder so we shall see what the future brings...
I am going to start going to yoga...so let's see if I get a real outfit or just wear sweats! ;)

I have been living in sweats, tees, and diabetic socks for the last 30 years. Since my surgery I have purchased sun dresses, regular socks, skinny jeans, and jeggings. I also have been letting my hair grow a bit longer. It seems like the bigger I got, the shorter I cut my hair. In another six months (1 1/2 years out) my hair should be a shoulder-length bob with bangs.

If you remeber Rita Moreno from when she got the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Oscars last year - that is the new style I am going for.......owning the gray hair and rocking some really sharp looking clothes.

I am only down 40lbs but I am loving my skinny jeans and my boots. My daughter picked them out for me. I can't imagine what I will get into once I am closer to goal :)

You had me laughing at diabetic socks... Which I have also used to prevent constriction at the ankles and they were comfortable btw.

I am not at my goal weight yet. However, I have lost 95 pounds so far. One thing that I am enjoying wearing that I never wore before is heels and wedges. I am having fun rocking my sexy new shoes. Also, I have been buying shirts that are more fitted through the waist. Even brought a jacket that is belted at the waist. I actually have a waist now!!!

I love being able to wear shoes with a little more heel now that I have lost 100+ pounds, also I too am loving wearing the skinny fitting pants – especially from Chicos. I am also very surprised to hear myself say that I love my running clothes – even in the rainy Northwest Winter. Close-fitting but not tight, and I look good in them now. And I refuse to wear all black ones too! So the final thing I say I am enjoying wearing color - I used to own so much large shapeless black stuff, I almost cannot stand it now except for my skinny black pants of course. my best advice is to try new things you never thought you could wear, and get rid of the baggy stuff – at least get it out of your closet until you take it to Goodwill or resell shops. It is so incredibly great to look at one closet and know that everything in it really fits! You can do it too!

I work in hospital administration so I have to dress up every day and I'm REALLY excited to rock some amazing heels with skirts and nice tailored blazers/collared shirts. Sounds silly but when being in front of large groups so often or doing presentations/running meetings I can't wait to feel better about how I dress.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
