kimpossible67 608 Posted December 10, 2014 I am 8 mths post op and and am in a depressed state. I have zero energy. All I want to do is sleep. I stopped taking Vitamins along time ago so I don't know if that's part of it or not. Really feel like I'm screwing up.
barbb3 115 Posted December 10, 2014 Have you had any blood work done lately? If this is a new developement for you it may be that you are malnourished and that is causing your lack of energy and depression. You should check with your doctor. Good luck Kimpossible!! altraoiche 26 Posted December 10, 2014 HI Kim. I'm reaching out to you as a preop, but I have a history of depression so I know a bit how you feel. Did you suffer from depression before your surgery? If so, it may be that the "honeymoon" period is over and you are feeling let down a bit that the excitement has ended? Or it could be that you are anemic and need Iron and Vitamins, or it could be both. I hope you can see your doctor and also pay attention to your supplements. Please keep us updated. Take care of yourself.
finallyfree101 39 Posted December 11, 2014 Part of this process for me is being very cognitive of my emotions as it relates to food and my environment. I have felt depressed as well and really have no reason to be. I do know that making poor choices in the past filled in those gaps. Now I really need to think it through and make a better choice for me. Your nutritionist and Dr should be able to help too. Good luck to you.
VSGAnn2014 12,992 Posted December 11, 2014 Kim, I'm sorry to hear this. You're such a smart cookie. You know what to do: Seek advice and insights and treatment from your bariatric team and your PCP. But only you can pick up the phone and make those appointments. Please do that. You've done too good a job thus far to sabotage yourself now.

Take care of yourself. Yes, I am bipolar. It's awful. I feel good when I get out and walk but I have no motivation to get ready to go. So shameful on my part. I was given this precious gift and am not feeling good. If you all were to guess, what Vitamin would you think I would need? B-12? I have little $$$ right now but when I came home from surgery I was low on D and B-12. I appreciate your empathy, I can see you "get it."

katesuccess 990 Posted December 11, 2014 Way to go Kim! Now start getting in a multi Vitamin morning and night until you can check back with the WLS team maybe. B12 is almost always recommended too, and can give you energy. I found myself getting depressed after a long stall about 5 to 6 months out, and I contacted my doctor because I recognize the depression symptoms from some years back. I'm now on wellbutrin because it isn't known to have a weight gain affect, and seeing a counselor a couple times really helped. I am thrilled for you that you made the call – and that you got on this site to reach out for some help. Smart woman! You can do this, even though it's hard. You go girl! altraoiche 26 Posted December 11, 2014 Way to go Kim. So glad you called your provider. If you are bipolar, you may need an adjustment on your medications and that may be all that is needed. But the Vitamins and Iron are a likely reason for your fatigue. I know I sound all experty, but I am not. I am a nurse though. I have my surgery sleeve on Dec. 19. The emotional part where I used to turn to food for comfort is my greatest fear.
