Recommended Posts

Appeal, I am approved I am 4'11" 225# with a BMI of 40 and no co morbs and I fought with my company also. I did a whole graph thing of future cost to them when I get diabetes and heart disease and heart surgery and ICU costs, in the end they saw the 50 thousand now was better for both of us. So appeal and get doctors and nutritionists to back you dont give up took me a year but I won surgery date next wednesday the 17th

@@michellebutrick The appeal process has begun. Spoke with my surgeon's office, my PCP & my acid reflux doctor today. They all are getting their paper work together. I have FAITH, know that this minor setback is for a major comeback. Just praying it doesn't take me a year of appealing. My surgeon told me to keep my pre-op appt for the 18th as scheduled. Good luck to you!

I'm inpatient and I want instant gratification. My insurance company basically told me... your fat, go on a diet, not our problem. I went to Mexico and had the surgery done for under $5k.

I'd suggest Mexico to anyone It's cheaper and they got me in quick.

My insurance does not cover the surgery! My doctor has a hiatal hernia program where I pay $3500! Jump dead on it, so my surgery is right around the corner and I am working two jobs to cover the $3500! Check with your doctor to see if this is an option or if you are close to dallas, tx inbox me!

I'm confused by your post. Can you clarify what you were trying to say? So you weren't approved for sleeve but are going to self pay or hiatal hernia repair? Is that correct?

I apologize! I was sleepy when I posted. That is correct! My insurance approved my hiatal hernia to be repaired, so while my surgeon is in there repairing my hernia he will sleeve me as well! I will self pay $3499 for the sleeve surgery! I hope that was clearer! If not here is his information:Dr. Frenzel in Dallas,Tx. mycompletetransformation.com

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
