It's here. Up earlier than I wanted to be. Cat woke me up. My surgery isn't until 2:15 and I don't have to check in until 11:30. Good luck to those who have early morning surgeries today!!

Good luck to you! I am early AM tomorrow, but my surgery center is 4 hours away so I'm leaving tonight after I sit the kids down for dinner. Give us a shout tonight to let us know how it goes.

Tomorrows the BIG day!! Super excited but not about the dos (discomfort of surgery), but about this new journey or chapter in my life! Prayers for successful surgeries & recoveries for us all!

I'm excited for us also! And I agree I'm nervous about the dos also!!

It is the worst pain ever. I had my gallbladder out and a hietal hernia repaired at the same time so they said my pain would be much worse than just a sleeve. I just hope the pain chills out soon!

I'm so nervous about tomorrow. I haven't been nervous until today! I'm having a tubal ligation at the same time but that's not why I'm nervous.

Mine is tomorrow, and I still haven't gotten a call about what time to be there! I'm going to call them if they don't call me in the next ten minutes. Like I need to worry about them forgetting to schedule me!

Otherwise just gathering up a few things to bring to the hospital - toothbrush, book, phone charger, pillow....

Made it through pretty well. In pain but expected. Can't sleep so thought I'd drop a quick update. Was told I'd probably be here two nights. No fluids yet. Have to have upper GI first thing and then I can attempt drinking. Keep brushing my teeth because all the iv meds give me a terrible taste. Blech. Moving around pretty well.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
