Does anyone else feel like their new tummy is fused to their abdominal wall. I mean, all of my other organs move freely and I don't feel them, but my stomach feels like it is glued to the wall of my abdomen. When I try to sleep on my side I am propping it up with a pillow but I still feel a tugging. What is that all about? Am I alone in this or maybe someone else feels it too?

Hummm nope never felt that? That does sound like a "weird" feeling though.

I don't remember feeling that, but could it possibly be tension from your incisions? Laparoscopic tools went through all of the layers of your trunk region and there are incisions both inside of your abdominal area and on the outside. The tension that exists until the incisions heal could be what makes you feel like that. Your stomach doesn't have the same type of nerve sensors as do some of the internal layers of your skin and abdominal muscles, so it's more likely you feel something that is in sort of the same place as your stomach, but the sensory feeling is coming from the layers above your stomach, if that makes sense.

Also, did you have a hiatal hernia fixed? That may also contribute to the feeling.

I did have a hiatal hernia repaired. It could very well be referred pain from that. It is such a strange tugging pain when I lay on my left side or even if I stretch my back. Thanks for your suggestions, you two. I appreciate you taking the time.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
