They told me 1.5 hours but mine on tuesday was only 45 mins. Doc said everything went smooth and easy so didn't take as long. Scared crap out of hubby when they pulled him back within 45 mins to talk to him. My mom said he turned white as a sheet

Buzzy Lizzy - I had mine on the 22nd with Dr. Ortiz and Dr. Martinez. They did five total that day. We all did well. I don't live far some San Diego so I was home Wed. evening.

I had my sleeve done on the 25th they said surgery started at 7:30 and I was in my room by 1030 and that includes a hour in recovery. I was really sick from anesthesia stayed 2

nights in the hospital very important to get up and walk. Home now still taking nausea medication. Pain medication is not needed.

The person who was with me said I was out of our room for 1 hour...including the operation and time in whatever the recovery room before the actual hospital room is

Mine took 45 minutes, then I was in recovery for about an hour. I do believe it's all a matter of how your liver shrinks during your pre op diet too

My Doctor stated surgery would take about an hour and 15 probably less, but he corrected an unexpected (but totally normal) hernia once he was in, so it took just a little under 2hrs.

I don't know. I was asleep. I was so out of it from the anesthesia I have never thought to ask my husband

My surgery was about 4 hours but I did have a hernia repair done as well while they were in there.

My surgery was 45 minutes, but I didn't have a hiatal hernia repair either.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
