45 mins and an hour in recovery, sleeve with no complications

I went into the OR at about noon, and was in my room (not the recovery room) by about 2:30. That included having a lap band removed. I think it was faster than having my band put in 8 years ago, but during that surgery I also had my gallbladder removed, and a "huge" (surgeons words) hiatal hernia repaired. This recovery has been much less painful.

Camkids, it sounds like they holllowed you out! Don't worry. I have not had a gallbladder since 1973 and haven't missed it at all. I hope you are having a good recovery.

Thanks, Miss Mac. My gb came out when the lap band went in 8 years ago. I was much more sore after that surgery. Never have missed my gb, and now I don't miss that band!

I was in and out (of surgery) in 1.5 hours, for Band removal and revision to sleeve. Very fortunate to have not had much scar tissue, and no hernia to repair.

I just had my surgery on Wednesday and was in the OR for about 4.5 hours. I had so many adhesions that it took my surgeon over 3 hours to lyse them all. He also removed broken wires left from a surgery done in 1981. Then he proceeded with my hiatal hernia repair and gastric sleeve which took a hour. I came home last evening.

Pre op at 530. In surgery at 8. My surgeon showed up late, it was supposed to be 730. I was in recovery around 10 (I had a hernia repaired) and in my room by noon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
