I haven't had mine yet. But was told the surgery excluding recovery and preop. would be about 60 minutes.

Looking forward to shedding this extra baggage. All 54kgs of it.

My surgery was smooth in and out in just over an hour. nothing else done. small liver, because I stuck to my pre-op diet like a champ.

45 min from the time they took me back, and spoke to my husband. But I was in recovery for 2ish hours, and not really very awake until after 3. I had surgery about 10:30.

Mine was done in about an hour but I had a very good and skilled surgeon. She has always been quick and efficient. Normally they say between 1 to 2 hours is the length, at least at the hospital where I was. Hope this helps!

I just had my sleeve done this past thursday....February 19th 2015. The nurses and my Doctor kept my mama up to date on what was going on. Surgery started at 10:30 am and was finished at 11:08am. I stayed in recovery for a few hours then was moved into my room.

I was rolled into the surgery suite at 7:30. The post-op nurse called hubs at 9:25 to say I was coming out of anesthesia just fine.

I think it just depends on the surgeon. If you are curious, I would ask your's. They will also tell you when you get there the morning of.

Mine was Friday at 7.30 and into recovery from 8.45 to 10.45 and into room at 11. Walking at one. No nausea or pain. Just tender. Came home at 3 on Saturday. Getting about 40 oz. of liquids in a day. Feeling really well. Only took 2- 5 ml doses of pain meds.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
