boosh10 98 Posted December 9, 2014 How long did your surgery take? My mother asked the PA and she said about 3 hours. I'm guessing that's worst case scenario, cause I keep reading different amounts of time.
par1959 470 Posted December 9, 2014 I was done in about 1.25 hours.
Elode 8,093 Posted December 9, 2014 Little over an hour.
boosh10 98 Posted December 9, 2014 Yea, that's what I keep reading. I guess the doctor says 3 hours , so if I'm in there for 2hrs, my mother is not having a heart attack in waiting room thinking I should have been done an hour ago. Lol
Aranks 94 Posted December 9, 2014 My surgery was about 2 hours with having my gallbladder removed also, which was said to add an extra 30-45 minutes. I didn't get moved out of recovery, to my own room, and was unable to be with my family until 3.5 hours after I went in for surgery.
Luvin_Life125 558 Posted December 9, 2014 My husband thinks I was in there for close to 4 hours. Of course, I didn't know and didn't care
ProudGrammy 8,322 Posted December 9, 2014 How long did your surgery take? @@boosh10 hubby told me it was about one hour (don't know cuz i was asleep at the time ) @@Aranks mentioned her gall bladder was taken out too - causing more surgery time many people also have a hernia removed if you are having anything like above removed also, it will take longer good luck kathy
hillgirly 228 Posted December 9, 2014 Hubby said I was in there a little under 2 hours, but I also had a hernia repaired. Of course, was only "moments" for me
Miss Mac 6,262 Posted December 9, 2014 Pre-op prep at 6 a.m. Transported to O R 7a.m. 1st patient of the day Into recovery around 8 a.m. Into a patient room around 9 a.m. 3 hour wait for my boyfriend, but just seemed like a nice little nap to me.
joatsaint 2,814 Posted December 9, 2014 I think mine went pretty quick, under 2 hours. But I was #2 for surgery that day, it may have gone a little faster cause the doc was "in the zone" from preforming the 1st surgery.
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted December 9, 2014 I think the 3 hours time frame includes time spent in recovery. IIRC that was the time to give family and friends so they could visit in your room or call. I think the 1 -2 hour time frame is pretty much the norm unless you are having multiple procedures or complications.
tamg26k 479 Posted December 9, 2014 Mine took about 1 1/2 hours. I also had a hernia repair.
maxcimax 220 Posted December 9, 2014 Actual surgery itself was about 1 1/2 hrs because I had a Hiatal Hernia repair. I think that adds abut 30 mins. 3 hours must include everything you have to go thru from check-in time to being taken to your hospital room. Good luck with your surgery. You will be really glad you did this.
boosh10 98 Posted December 9, 2014 Did you all know that you were having a hernia repaired? Or was this something the doc discovered while he was in there?
Miss Mac 6,262 Posted December 9, 2014 The doc knew ahead of time to look for a hernia that showed up on th EDG scope. Once he got to actually see it, he decided that it was too small to fool with.
