Hey guys - thanks.

Yeah. I've been eating crap foods... chips, Cookies, etc. Though I have laid off of the ice cream lately. Lol. Today I sorta got back on track - started with Protein Shake and vitamins... had yogurt and then broccoli for lunch.. but after work I remembered I still had about 1/3 bag of sour cream and onion chips and ate those... and dipped into a canister of choc cake icing. I need an intervention. I need to be rich and famous so I can have a trainer come drag me out of bed and kick my ass all day everyday. I need to remind myself WHY I had surgery in the first place. Since this gain, I look at my scars and wonder what I did to myself. I do not regret the band at all... I LOVE my band! I just wonder why I thought it was going to be so easy... and this past year has probably been the hardest ever (food wise.)

IF and WHEN i eat 'right' my fill is great. They REALLY need to come up with a sugar/chocolate proof band. Lol.

And no... I haven't been exercising. At all... not walking, going to the gym, or riding. I have all of the typical excuses... busy, hot, raining... but really... my gym is indoors, air conditioned, and open 24 hours - which is against every single one of my 'excuses'... so basically I'm just lazy. I s.w.e.a.r. I was going to walk this evening, but after the chips and icing I felt self defeated and generally sad. And it was like 95 out and very humid.

So, go ahead. Kick my ass. Please.

I get paid on Friday - when I go to the store I will buy NOTHING but fruits and veggies and other various healthy bandster friendly foods. ANd I"ve re-commited to doing Protein Shakes and taking my Vitamins daily, which I hadn't done in months!

Oh, and see my ticker? Yeah... that is painful to look at... guess my gain was a bit bigger than I'd thought. I'd still determined to be at 225 by Thanksgiving/Christmas though... so yeah... I got like 71 pounds to shed here!

hey ZZ, hey girl...hang in there....I have those weeks that I am doing the same thing, although mine is not with ice cream...we all have slips and it is hard to eat good when you are on the run....although it is becoming a lot easier than it use to be......HANG IN THERE!!!!

D...yes, we biked, we ran, we biked, we ran, we canoed.....it was a defiante good exercise weekend.......NOW LETS MOVE SCALE!!! HA_HA

But having to find some places we can go to get the distance without being on a bus road. It is definatly interesting!!!

Your pictures from the camping was great!!!!! I miss my camper....:)

You look amazing.......

WHOS....WOWOWOWOWOWOWO...you are kickin some butt and takin names...way to go......

ZZ, HANG IN THERE GIRL!! You can do this. I think we all go through these "weird" times with food and then we snap out of it and are back on track again, thats the beauty of the band...we can get back on track with out much damage....think of how far behind you would be right now falling off "another" diet before the band.....

You can do this!!!! Rant, rave, talk to us!!! Don't hide and not discuss, even if you just write how you feel down, it helps and then you can look back and see what you were doing that helped and what didn't help.....We need to be here for each other, I know I love knowing I can come here and have someone who understands totally what I am talking about. I think the first thing you need to do is get back to the gym. I know you know this, but it is such a great mood enhancer, and then that will help with the eating. I truly believe that, when I am exercising, I eat better than if I don't.

I like the plan you have made about the fruits and veggies. I love fruits and veggies now, I just hate how expensive they are and how cheap junk food is....Chin up girl, you will prevail, and maybe you need to cut your goal up in chunks...work on 10 pounds at a time, it doesn't seem so overwhelming then. Hugs......Deanna

Hey who's, does your wife get jealous of the attention you get from women? Just wondering if it happens the other way around. I must say you were very handsome heavy, so you probably got plenty of attention from the opposite sex before, but you must be getting trampled over now!!!! Does your wife do exercise things with you or is that just your thing? And one more, is your wife heavy or is she normal weight....just wondering how all of this affects the men when they get banded...

Phew i got some questions to repley to i see.

Ok well first i use my mountain bike for Triathlons still...im dying to buy a road bike but i just cant get the funds together. I nearly bought some crappy 300 buck one but i want to wait untill i can get one for between $700-$1000.

My wife is really getting insecure i think...i dont know for sure. Its not like women throw themselves at me but it is causing some problems. She doesnt like that i come on here an know ppl either. Yes shes banded. she struggling right now around 220. Its all due to ice cream and starbucks. And she doesnt exersise,.she says she would but she feels like there is no way to keep up with me. She is worried i am going to leave her :wink2:

Hmmm, well, I can see the jealousy thing, if it were the other way around for me....I would not want my DH to be talking to a lot of women either. Although, my DH is not the jealous type, he loves that I have people I can talk to about my issues that he has no idea about, but I wonder why she doesn't want to exercise with you. That would be a great way to support each other and she would feel so much better. Has she ever exercised since banding?

I agree with the bike, wait until you can get a nicer one. You will want to upgrade really quick otherwise. I wish I would of known you were looking, I just sold my mans road bike I had and got a woman specific one. It was a 54" and it costs me 679.00 and I sold it for 450.00, it was not even a year old. It might not of even fit you, but dang it.

You are a great encouragement to lots of people. You have done so very very well, andI think a lot of people would be dissappointed if you were not on here anymore showing them what is possible if they just put their minds to it.

I wonder how often a spouse leaves a spouse after weight loss? Like real statistics. My DH has weighed the same since high school. He wears the same size, always has. He has watched me balloon up to 305 and NEVER made a comment about my weight. He always told me how beautiful I was no matter how much I weighed. I know this is not true for everyone, but love is love, and if someone is going to leave you because of weight, either loss or gain, then they are not worth having in the first place. I know that doesn't help with what your wife feels, but she must be feeling very insecure about herself. How much weight has she lost? Is she happy with her loss? Maybe she feels like you are leaving her behind with all the exercise. Too bad you can't get her to do it with you.

well, I will pipe in here.....I can understand the compettion thing and the jealousy as well...if you all remember last year I threw a fit when my husband went riding with a group of people....which included women.....not like he would ever do anything.....But, I notice that my husband seems to be more insecure with my weight loss as well. You know.....they loved us heavy.....we loved them when we were heavy...that wont change....but sometimes it seems like they "push" us away...which is never good. Does your wife post on here and have people she can relate to??? I know what it is like to be stuck at a certain weight...it sucks!!!!!!

We are all just good friends on here, and I love that I can come on here and vent....and love all my support.......

Hang in there!!!!!!

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
