I spoke too soon, and now I hate being unfilled.

Don't wanna talk about it, but my weight is climbing.

Aw, sweetie - I'm sorry to hear that. We're always here pulling for ya!

TX,

That sucks shit. I'm sorry you're struggling. You'll get refilled soon, no?

B,

Good to know your ticker is in fine order. Get thee on thy bicycle!

Shout out to the rest of you all.

Sorry I'm being crass...but I'm ever so slightly just a little drunk.

Thanks, all...I really appreciate the support.

J...I heart you...you can always make me laugh: "...but I'm ever so slightly just a little drunk." I love that...ever so slightly just a little! Is that like being ever so slightly just a little pregnant? LOL And yes, I will get refilled. I will take it a little at a time and only get the bare necessity, though. Right now, I'd say it's necessary.

TX,

There's a children's show/book called Lola and Charlie which is very charming. They are brother and sister in London. And Lola says often, "ever so slightly just a little..." Like she is ever so slightly just a little scared to to go to school for the first time.

We love, love, love Lola and Charlie and Fancy Nancy and newest in our book collection are Pinkalicious and Purplelicious...Nobody told me the books would be one of the best parts of having a new reader. I love the stories as much as she does.

But back to your fill...You wouldn't know if you didn't try, right? Soon, soon. At least you'll be able to fuel your giant ride this weekend.

Mornin' everyone else.

Ohio Loves You!!!!

That's fantastic.

Traci, why do I need to be careful? Did I miss something? I'm just writing many many papers and Zoe's having a sleep over. My weekend should be pretty tame.

TX and B,

I'm thinking about a vacation to the Texas Golf this December. Is cycling decent in that area? What are the temps? Anything a girl should do???

I know, I can see stuff on Travel Texas. com...but I thought I'd see what you'd say. Is there gambling in the area? Do you even have clue?

thanks,

TX - I'm sure you'll be very busy today getting ready for the MS150. I wish that I could be there - but with work commitments & such, I'd be lucky to make 15 miles this weekend, let alone 150. Good luck, have a blast, & tell us all about it!!!

J - I haven't been to South Padre in years, so I can't speak for that part of the gulf, but we make it to Galveston on a fairly regular basis (got married on a jetty there. Weather is generally mild - highs in the 60s, lows in the 50s. Bicycling is okay - if you want to bike a long the beach, you're golden, the rest of the town may be a little more of an iffy proposition. As far as I am aware, there is no gambling onshore. There have been several attempts over the years to set up gambling boats to take folks off-shore to international waters, but I don't think any have ever really been successful. Also, being off-season, there would be less of a chance of any gambling boats running.

Do you know where on the gulf you would want to go?

Since the topic of saddle comfort arrises from time to time, I thought I'd pass along something that I found today. If I still had a diamond-frame bike, I'd be all over trying one of these. I didn't see pricing, but it might be worth a look to those that are still having saddle comfort issues...

I got some 'post-op' pedals for my bike! LOL They are pretty cool actually. They have the clip inside, but are flat like a regular pedal all around it so you can choose whether you use clipless pedals or regular shoes. My LBS guy hooked me up because I'm so worried about falling while I'm still so fresh from surgery. Doctor said I could ride, but I've been leary...have stuck to walking thus far. Of course, it's sucky weather this weekend here in O-HI-O. Gee, what's new? LOL

I'm glad you liked the video clip of my DH. He does not get a dog...darnit! I would love to have one and so would he, but he needs to provide 'back-up' to them, and also has to work in an office fairly regularly so it just wouldn't make sense. Anyway, he gets to see them all the time, but it would be really neat to have one here at home.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
