All right back to reality, I am going to have to amp up the excercise. This means staying out longer so check out what I just found. I ordered the Expedition Asym HENNESSY HAMMOCKS: ultra-light line of jungle hammocks, ultra-comfortable camping hammock /chair/ tent combo very cool.

JC

JC,

Take it easy for a minute. Amping up the exercise is not what you need to be doing...Let your body rest.

You'll see your goal, you will, you will....and you can continue to exercise as you heal from your stomach twisting. And what about the kidney stones? I hear those hurt like a SOB. But knocking yourself out for those last five pounds when you are not as well as you could be isn't going to do you any good.

Please don't comfort yourself with the thought of a typical sized casket instead of the XL size...(sorry if that's too soon to be funny.)

Settle down there, if I were in FL I'd push you down and sit on your chest. And I'm not talking all sexy either. Cuz you know, I don't much like the boys in that way. (Slack, that's for your flirting comment...) And I weigh more than you, so I assure you it won't be fun.

Now, HP, yes you can move a seat forward or backward. You'll see it's attached to the post on two rails. You can loosen the nut that holds the rails tight and slide the seat as you see fit then tighten the nut again.

Good to know you'll be looking great doing those 20 miles.

I'll try to post a pic of me and the bike soon.

J

Juli, you crack me up, I know your flirting! lol Anyway it's going to take 4 or 5 days for the tent to get here. Is that enough rest?? Just kidding, it's how I cope.

Honestly I am going to collect the things I need to AMP up. So that when I am ready I will be able to hit it hard!'' Thanks for the concern and the advice.

Didn't you say something about having a sister? Is she cute?

Now, I'll stop. My GF is the jealous type.

I would have guessed that focusing on exercise or your goal whatever they be, is your coping mechanism.

I'm trying to relearn how to cope since food is no longer an option. Or since food should no longer be an option...you'd be amazed at the calories lurking out there, just ready to jump in my mouth.

Glad to see you have your humor about you, JC.

JC,

Did the doc tell you how this happens? Was is from throwing up? God how horrific!!!! I bet you were really scared. The whole ordeal is sooooo surreal, I am sure. Make you appt. TODAY!!!!!! You need to make sure everything is ok with your stomach!!!!! Your life, as J indicated, is way more important than being tough!!!!!! As for symptoms, what of them? Did they come on suddenly? Was is like the flu? God, I just keep thinking that you must of been horrifid when puking up blood!!! Was this the first time you had puked since banding? God, I still can't even believe it!!! The amount of things you have been through in your life, this is just another way of showing how utterly special you are!!!!

Deanna, thank you, and btw your pics look great.

I have been having back pain since I did that 3 mile jog the other day. I was sure I pulled a muscle or popped a rib out of place. This is where things get fuzzy. I think maybe I was passing a kidney stone I am not sure. What I do know is Monday afternoon I felt nauseated. I started puking, I was able to control this by pushing and not wretching. I drove my son to his Boyscout meeting in Tampa. I had to stop twice to get rid of this flem that was building up. I bought a coffee took a couple sips and full on blew it out. Then I started wretching I mean deep deep wretching. Like I chugged a whole 5th of Tequilla after drinking a case of beer wretching. After that all I could feel was acid like burning in the upper part of my stomach.

I started to go to the E.R. right then and next time I WILL. Instead I went home and tried to get some sleep I had already made up my mind that I would require an unfill. By 2:00 am in knew I was bad off just not how bad. By 4:00 am it was old bile and some blood coming up.I did not know that it was blood because it was very dark from being in there with the acid. At 6:00 I drove to my St Petersburg fill center location.

When I arrived I was feeling somewhat better I told the receptionist that I was in trouble and required an unfill. They got me in right away unfilled and looked at the band with the C-arm which confirmed a slip had occured.

When I drank the Water I felt a little better but, I had stopped and purchased some pedialyte on the way knowing that I was dehydrated. When that pedialyte hit my stomach I came unglued. The NP there told me I needed to be seen at Tampa General. She has a working relationship with the Bariatric team and called them in advance, she also sent all the important paperwork to them, this helped fast-track me through the E.R..

I can tell you this even if I lose the band I have to count myself as one lucky person. This is my overall opinion the the lapband is a safe BUT, we have to share our experiances and educate ourselves because it is not something to take lightly or try to tough it out when somethig goes wrong.

What I am trying to say is; if you go to another country/state/area for the procedure, you need to make connections in your local area for support and not expect that the support will automatically be there for you. I am fortunate to have found the fill center that I am going to because those connections are in place which saved me a lot of time. I would encourage anyone who is not working with their surgeon for aftercare to do your homework and find out who is around locally that can understand and assist you in case you get in trouble.

WOW, that sounds so scary!!!! You know, there are so many times when think about going to the ER for things, and then just don't do it. I guess this is a lesson learned. If throwing up, contact your doctor/ fill center immediately to see what needs to happen. Did the slip happen because of the throwing up with your band filled? I know the RN told me that even if I get a stomach bug, to contact them right away so they can unfill me in case I throw up.

I am just really glad you are ok, as I bet your son is also. AND, I didn't know you had a son!!!! You had a secret from us!!!!!! Gosh, so now what is the prognosis? You have to go back to original surgeon? What? Def. keep us informed in all that is going on.

I second, the "YOU HAVE A SON???" statement. Do you have a wife too? I know I look like the biggest flirt, but I'm not. Really.

I really appreciate you sharing your experience with what happened. That's scary as hell. You'll get through this no doubt. But you know we girls over here want to know the gritty details....

A lot of people mistake outgoing personalities as flirty. I was just picking because of the mood I was in. Like I said I sometimes joke in order to cope.

As far as my personal stuff. My wife and I have been separated for a year and a half. My son is technically my stepson but I treat him and feel like he is my flesh and blood. I am the only real father he has ever known.

There have been so many people come in and out of his life, IE he never even saw his biological father until about two years ago when he was 15. He lost both grandparents on his mother's side and his paternal grandparents are self absorbed, so they don't have time for him. There was no way I would walk out of his life.

When his mother and I split I sat him down and explained to him what was going. I told him that no matter where I ended up or what I was doing there would always be a place for him. I told him that I considered him my son and that I love him no matter what.

Hi gang

I did 26 miles with the WOW group this morning. My speed was faster too, I averaged over 14 mph, which is super cool...

To brag a little, because who would have thought a formerly 300+ chica would be asked this, someone said, "what else do you do for workouts? I ask because you are a really strong cyclist, especially for being so new to it."

Me, strong? Who knew??? I said I do gym stuff, cardio and strength...I'm sure they didn't want the nitty gritty...but I felt so cool.

Anyway, I'm taking the kiddo out tomorrow night on her tag along bike and I'll be out again on Tuesday with a group...

You know, I love this biking stuff.

JC-Thanks for the 411 on you and your kid. Very cool. My situation is similar but vastly different....My daughter isn't biologically mine, nor do I have any legal rights to her, but me, the other, bio-mom and the Kid function like a divorced family with shared custody and shared money to raise the kid. I figure I was part of the decision to bring her into our lives, it's my obligation to raise her. It's also my joy and I'd be devistated with out her......

Anyway I hope you're feeling better and on the mend. We still want to know about the fate of your band.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
