Good God Poeple!!! You are all wound up so bad that you don't even realize how the Term "Head Hungry" sounds! Makes me feel all funny inside!

My 2 cents for the day! Sorry I missed the fun.

JC

I've missed you JC. That funny feeling inside is your band.

Oh and the bike class was FANTASTIC!!!!

And I'm the kind of girl that doesn't like to get all dirty but there I was learning to take off my chain, clean the gears, tighten spokes, learning about the different parts. It was so cool. And the fellas teaching the class were great. There were 6 of us, all from WOW, (women on wheels, my cycling group) and we got to get all caught up.

Next week we do more. I'm am going with quatro, egg beater clipless pedals and 23's for my wheels. I have 26's on it now. I'm so geeked.

W00T, W00T.

Why so little sleep?

The new fill has me unable to eat before bed for a few hours or I get reflux. That's a first. Yesterday I ate dinner at 5 and nothing afterward. I was starving at 11, wondering do I eat and not sleep or sleep and not eat. Not eating won. It was the best I've rested since Friday! (I'm a slow learner.)

I know once I said sleep is for whimps, but oh my goodness, I'll take a pillow over food any day now.

J - I can't drink Water before bed... it likes to slide back up when I lay down. This is hard for me because for as long as I have been alive I've had to have a glass of water before bed!! Mom used to tell us that it cleaned our kidneys while we slept, haha, and while I know this isn't so much true, it's now a habit I miss. I normally don't eat anything beyond about 8 or 9pm though, but I'm sure it would try to snake up too.

As far as sleep being for wimps - then I'm the biggest wimp of all!! I seriously HAVE to have at least 8-10 hours of UNinterrupted sleep. My cats try to wake me up and they get the spray bottle cause I ain't dealing with it! God forbid I ever reproduce!! If I have nights where I get less than 8 hours, I will easily sleep 10-12 the following night! Even if that means going to bed at 8pm!!

Hi everybody! Wow, quiet thread today!

I saw the exercise physiologist today and she just got me so excited! hehe

What I mean is, that although I don't get banded until April, I was glad to be doing something leading up to it, ya know (dirty minds, lol)? Also, we talked the whole time about biking and at the end she said, "boy, I didn't expect you would be teaching me today...that was really cool that you know so much about exercise!". It was cool, but also funny to me. What a shame that I have the knowledge, but can't seem to apply it to my life. Bummer. I know exactly what to do to lose weight and get fit (don't all of us?), but can't get my body (and mind) to cooperate. I am looking forward to the Band giving me some control over my eating so I can 'walk the walk, not just talk the talk'. :grouphug:

Oh, and get this! Ever since I got approved, I've been eating everything in site. Like it was my last meal...last cookie, last whatever. Stuff I wouldn't even normally choose, ridiculous. Well anyway, I somehow managed to lose 3 pounds this month!! Crazy, huh? :)

Yeah, once I was approved and then had a date set I was all about eating EVERYTHING I could get ahold of. I remember the last meal I had before I started the liquid diet - My homemade burritos - which I ate SIX of, and they are big. Lol. Every now and then I think back on that and wish I'd stopped to actually chew and TASTE them Lol! I was just inhaling as fast as I could so that I wouldn't feel full before I was done eating. Ha! THAT could be how I got fat! Lol.

Hmmmmmm...you might be on to something!

I have got to stop this! I know I'll be fed again, but for some reason it's like I'm saying goodbye or something. I think it's so weird. What's stranger, is that I know I'm doing it and can't seem to stop! I will admit that it's better than last week! LOL

C that is so normal though. The day before my liquid diet I had the worst hangover ever (end of girls weekend lol). Despite that I managed to have BK for Breakfast, KFC for lunch, Hungry Howies pizza, and fish and chips from this amazing place near my house. Plus other random stuff. I was ready to puke it all up but I jsut had to eat it no matter what. I think back about it and I am really disgusted by the whole thing. I mean in that one day i ate more than I probably did the entire weekend we went up north this year. Probably twice as much. So don't worry. It is normal. It is a process. Sometimes it is hard to say goodbye lol.

And I am still tired despite going to sleep at about 7pm last night. My family is in town from up north. For those not familiar with Michigan anything north of Lansing (think mid hand when using you hand map) is considered up north. Well my family is from waaaaay up there in the UP so I don't see them much. So there will be lots of card playing and late nights. Maybe I will leep when I am dead.

sleep sounds so good.

I hate school. OMG, I'm sorry people to be such a negative nelly all the time about the papers and papers and freaking papers.

Sounds like you'll have a great time with your family this weekend BG. The MI hand thing just cracks me up. It's effective but corny. :tt2:

Okay, off to write about the HRM, business model of market overstaturation and management practices of Starbucks. Settle down, don't be jealous.

Sometimes I miss the food induced coma. Burritos always = coma for me. I looked up a Chipotle burrito shortly after banded and it was like 1000 kcals for one and I nearly fell over. There was a time I'd eat one of those mothers and a pile of chips and salsa and still want more.

Girls are such dainty eaters. HA!

Yeah, I saw 202 two days in a row so I claimed it! I feel bad that you notice my ticker. I'm so bad about recognizing other people's losses.

But woot woot, I might just maybe see 199 before I turn 40!

Hi girls and boys!

TGIF!!! I feel like I have 2 left feet and a few extra arms this week...argh! Picture this...nice quiet OR except for the lovely music playing softly in the background...The CD ends, the doctor asks me to change it, I put the CD in the boombox (which is resting on a ring stand), close the lid, and push play. As I push play, the whole thing falls through the ring stand and crashes upside down on the floor!!! CD slides across the floor!!! OMG I broke it! I couldn't even pretend I didn't know what happened! All I could think about was how much it was going to cost me to get him a new one! I confessed my sin (like he didn't already know by the huge crashing sound and lack of music) and told him I'd get him a new one. Someone else walks in the room (not knowing all this happened), went over to the boombox, pushed play and it worked!! LOL I got lucky, but still I felt bad. It took me all day before I could laugh about it!!

Anyone got plans for the weekend?

Oh... and good job J on the ticker! I usually don't pay too much attention to those either, so I'm sorry.

BG--thanks for understanding my "last meal syndrome". I knew I couldn't be the only who's done this. I hope it ends soon and not the night before my liquid diet! haha

I'm officially no longer "obese" and now classified as "overweight!" Years ago when I was 108 lbs (my old adult holding weight until the last 10 years) would I have ever thought there would come a day that I'd celebrate being "overweight!"
I hit my one year surgery anniversary next Wednesday (August 21st, 2023) and just so happen to have my final bariatric clinic check up on the same day. I'm looking forward to seeing my surgeon and being officially released into the wild! 😋
I'm curious as to what my labs will say, especially since they told me to not take my vitamins a few days before the labs. To be honest, I find this confusing since the whole point of taking vitamins is to keep your stats within normal ranges - to assure they're working as intended, yet since I quit taking them it will show I need to take them..so I'll hear "make sure to take your vitamins!" A vicious circle. Who knows why?!
Anyway, I have 40lbs to go to meet my goal and I'm really hoping I can do it in the next 6 months (for a total of 18 months post surgery). At my starting weight the charts show only 20% reach their goal within 18 months with a starting weight of 259 the day of surgery. I'd like to add that to achieved goals. Fingers crossed!
I'm amazed and thankful for everyone here on these forums who've supported me, answered my questions and understood the plight! Thank you all, you know who you are.

Good morning all, how long did it take insurance to approve you?

Once it was submitted, not long at all. Just a few days, I think. But my surgeon's office didn't submit it until all my requirements were met, which included psych eval, dietician meetings, a certain number of visits, bloodwork, etc. As long as you've checked all the right "boxes" they require, the approval process should be very standard and easy. Your surgeon's office should know exactly what you need to get approved.

good morning , I just need one more clearance from the insurance requirements which is my basic nutrition class , and that's on the 26th of this month. I have BCBSMI insurance. my surgeon said it usually takes 4-6 weeks for them to approve but can be sooner

      3. BlondePatriotInCDA

Once I completed all the insurance/program requirements - about a week. It seemed fairly quick, but I also contacted my insurance company several times to confirm all the requirements I needed to satisfy there paperwork machine and also nudge (nag squeaky wheel) them 😋 ! Also, my bariatric clinic is/was on top of it.

      4. juliie

@BlondePatriotInCDA thanks, I have BCBSM hopefully it doesn't take them long to approve me, i just need one more clearance from their requirements. wow a week ? that was fast ,have you had yours yet?

      5. BlondePatriotInCDA

Yes, my one year anniversary is this Wednesday. It will go quickly, it may not seem like it now..but trust me it will. I have BCBS as well. Good luck, you can do this!

Long whine alert - I'm really disappointed! I saw my primary Dr last month and told her I wanted WLS and she was all for it. Said that I had to do the 6 month supervised diet for my insurance and a boatload of other tests. Ok. I understand. She started my 6 month diet last month and sent a referral to the bariatric surgeon. MY plan was to do the supervised diet, then at the end of the 6 months in January, do all the other tests...sleep study, endoscopy, ekg, psych, nutritionist, etc. because all of that would get my insurance deductible met, then have surgery in February or March. Since my deductible would be met, I'd only be paying my 20% coinsurance by then. Got the call from the bariatric surgeon's office on Friday and was told that THEY are the ones that will do my 6 month supervised diet. I explained that my primary Dr already had me on it for a month but they said everything will go thru them. Ok. I understand. So I explain about wanting to complete the diet first, then do all the other testing (because I don't want to have to pay my deductible twice by paying for all that stuff now, & then it starts over in January) but she tells me that they do the testing while I'm doing the diet. That means that I cannot even start their bariatric program until January! They made my first appt for Jan 9th & that's when the 6 month diet will start with them & they'll submit to insurance for approval in June & I would have surgery in July. Man!!! That's almost a year from now! All because I don't want to pay $4500 now, than have to pay it again in January. I don't understand why they won't let me diet now & do the other tests at the end.

Before you assume that the testing will take your full deductible, I would make some calls to your insurance. I have a 3k deductible and my portion of the bloodwork was nowhere close to that even though I assumed it would be. I think my copays ended up being around $1k or less for all the preliminary tests. And remember, you will have extensive bloodwork multiple times after surgery, so there may be no way to get it all into one calendar year. Also, you might look into financing options through your hospital. Mine allowed me to put the $3k I owed after the surgery (because yeah, that did max out my deductible for this year) on a 24-month no-interest payment plan. Depending on your options, it may be affordable enough that you can book your appointment sooner and get this whole thing going instead of having to wait almost a full year to have your surgery.
