Thanks for the candid answers to my question about if you thought you would be where you are a year ago. I live in CO and maybe next summer I will be doing mountain passes. Right now I will practice on the 'huge' hill by my house (huge to me that is LOL).

I didn't ride this morning since I had an early appt for a mammogram. My butt is appreciating the break (does that ever get used to the bike seat? I have a 'comfort seat' and put a gel thing over it even. Maybe I need to build up some butt calluses. With all the padding my butt has it should be fine. LOL

Long2be,

sometimes the gel pads make it worse. For now it is probably ok, but when you start riding more, you will want to get rid of it and get some spandex shorts with the padding in them, and go for a harder seat.

I just had my first mammogram a few months ago, I was having some issues, but everything is good.

Good luck with yours HP!!!

Good luck. Sometimes it's a little uncomfortable as they try and pull and squeeze as much of you as they can under the glass, but I figure I'd rather the few moments of discomfort and have them see as much as they can, so I grin and bear it. The gal today was great, she was very gentle.

J is an excellent cook. She made some rissoto thingie mabob and it was way yummy.

I did my running today. Nasty hot outside. It is about 90 degrees in our house right now.

On a good note my daughter got her dance schedule sent to her for the fall and she was asked to join the comptition team! Her studio has an amazing team and she is so excited to be a part of it. I kind of am too. =)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
